“Awesome place”
Reviewed October 15, 2012

This restaurant is delicious, and different than the normal chain restaurant. You can sit outside or in, the outside is located over a little wooded creek. It was a nice view. The food was very good and affordable. We went in the afternoon and all the appetizers were half half. Our server forgot one appetizer but quickly realized it, and brought it to us immediately and it was not on the bill.

“Great place for a birthday dinner”
Reviewed September 9, 2012

Our party of four enjoyed everything about this restaurant. There is a nice selection of local beers, and the complimentary taste of pimento cheese started us off right. The queso with pork was an interesting twist and came very quickly after we ordered. We had the chicken fried ribeyes, fish tacos, and the country club chicken salad, all very good. The only thing about the salad was with the very spicy chicken, blue cheese in the salad did not quite mix. Either have a milder chicken, or a milder cheese, the two strong flavors were too competitive. The server was attentive, and our food came very promptly. The peanut butter pie was tasty too. A wonderful birthday!

“Finally a great restaurant in southwest Austin!”
Reviewed September 6, 2012

People on Yelp have the nerve to complain that jAK is too far away. To the hipsters I say - fine - stay on South Congress and Lamar!

JAK has it all - great food - great ambience - great service - great drinks - and it doesn't break the bank to go there. One of the best values in Austin for sure. The appetizers are TDF! Go during happy hour and they are half off. More than once we've had an early dinner of appetizers on a saturday. Don't miss the bacon-wrapped quail and barbacoa stackers. The 13 spice pasta is very flavorful - it is actually pretty spicy but it sort of sneaks up on you.

“Fresh food, great drinks in a fun setting”
Reviewed September 3, 2012

We are lucky to only be less than a mile from their location. Yesterday, we stopped in for happy hour, my husband enjoyed an IPA on tap and I loved my vodka, cranberry and basil martini. Their quail rapped bacon was excellent and so was a dish with figs, bacon and gorgonzola. Since moving close by, we would really like to try their patio, however, waiting for some cooler temperatures. Very friendly service also!

“Best Food in South Austin”
Reviewed August 27, 2012

Jack Allen's buys local fresh produce. Their "Sunday Buffet" is like no other in Austin. Everything is made fresh down to their own pimento cheese!! Yum!!
