This was a pseudo business and pleasure trip. The property is located in suburban austin. For shopaholics, its great given its directly across from a nice mall in Austin, called the Domains. There are a bunch of eateries in the vicinity to choose from. Its about 20 minutes to the airport and downtown area. There's really nothing to shout bout this hotel. Frequent Westin patrons will find the standard Westin bed luxurious. The rooms are a little small for suburban hotels. You expect the small size in big cities like NYC and Sydney, not Austin, big Texas. The bar is functional and acceptable. It has a nice lobby, and waling distance to the mall and some restaurants is probably amongst its biggest attraction. But as far as Westins go, there are a lot nicer and plushier Westins. Service is standard and acceptable.

My husband and I were in Austin for a conference (not at this hotel), but he chose this Westin for our weekend stay. He's a frequent business traveller to the area and likes this hotel because it's a newer property with a fitness center, business center (I didn't use either of these services so can't comment) and decent restaurant, plus they also offer free in room internet. We stayed on the Executive level (5th floor) and it was quiet, but not sure what, if any, other benefits come with staying on this level? Perhaps the free in room internet?

The restaurant (Urban) - serves some organic and locally sourced foods and has a few interesting entrees. We ate breakfast and dinner there and enjoyed both meals. I especially liked that the food arrived very hot! Service was quick, personable and efficient.

Location - As other reviewers have noted, you can't beat this location if you're looking to shop. The hotel is right in the thick of the Domain, which is an upscale outdoor shopping mall with stores like Tumi, and Nieman's. There's also an Apple store and a Microsoft store, as well as all the other usual chains. The hotel is right off the tollway and this makes it convenient to get to other parts in this area of Austin. An interesting, older area of the city to check out is the nearby Allandale neighborhood which has more unique shops and dining.

Accomodations - Nice "heavenly" beds with good selection of pillows, a duvet, a large desk for work area and a reading chair. Like the room, the bathroom was very clean and because this hotel is new, all the fixtures and appointments are modern and well done.

If you're looking for a shopping weekend in Austin, the Domain can't be beat and this hotel offers golf cart service to your choice of location in the mall if you don't feel like walking.

My only complaint would be the parking... It seems that the Domain shoppers use the Westin's lot to park in and this makes it a challenge to find a spot.

I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: The rooms on the 5th floor are considered "Executive Level" and the end rooms (down from elevator) were very quiet.

We went for a weekend getaway to Austin. We wanted to stay at a nice hotel for a reasonable price. The Westin Hotel at The Domain is only a couple of years old. The Domain is an upscale outdoor shopping mall and offers a nice backdrop for this hotel.
The lobby of the hotel was large, modern and inviting. There is an inviting hotel bar that made for a good start to our evening.
The staff was very friendly and attentive. The first night we were there, it was colder than expected and the hotel has a large golf cart that they used to drive us over to Dick's so we could pick up a coat.
The room was roomy and clean. The hotel's location provided easy access to the rest of Austin. We would definitely stay here again.

As January rolls around so does a trip to Austin. The Domain is a "Chic" area of Ausitn, catering to the upwardly mobile "Techies of the 21st Century". It is state of the "Art", open and made for the shopper of the fine things in life. The conference area was perfect for the business at hand, the food awesome for such an event and the nightlife was more than anyone could ask for....valet your vehicle and keep a change of shoes in your bag for a full scale Healthy Austin Life.

Room Tip: As high as you can go and enjoy the Night Lights of Austin and the Capital. Southside the views are better....overlooking the University of Texas...The Eyes of Texas are Upon You!

This hotel couldn't be in a better location to see ALL of what Austin has to offer. We were visiting for the 1st time as our friends were raving about their visits. None of them could give me a concrete answer on where to stay so I decide to just venture out on my own and figure it out. I'm glad I did. I picked the Westin at The Domain because from the website and a map looked very central and convenient. It was even more than that.

1). Hotel (rooms/amentities): Has everything you would expect a hotel has, gym, pool & hot tub (both outdoor so make sure weather is nice), restaurant and bar in the lobby and is extremely clean. The room was awesome and the bathrooms were as solid as Westins always are and best part was how clean and comfortable everything was.

2). Staff: we wanted places to eat and see and figured we would ask the staff the night we arrived as concierge was closed when we got there (11pm). 20 minutes later we had a list of places and locations for a bunch of spots around town. Not just downtown but also some must dos all over Austin. They were very friendly and accommodating and were very happy to help.

3). Location: Short ride to every part of Austin from Round Rock to Lake Travis to UT and downtown Austin, I felt like we got in the car and within a minutes we were at our location.

4). Hotel & Surrounding: This hotel is right smack in the middle of an up and coming area and is within 2 minute walk to an entire shopping district of its own (The Domain) and plenty of good restaraunts and even an movie theatre. There's plenty to do in the area for any down time or even for meaningful shopping. Highly reccommend looking up "The Domain" before going.

Overall, one of my favorite hotel stays period, has everything you could want in a hotel experience! Book here and you won't regret it.
