If you are a foodie, than Frank is your place! There are so many cool things on the menu - I will totally go back next time I'm in Austin!

The varieties of dogs/sausages are totally gourmet, but not pretentious - lots of interesting and unusual ingredients and combinations. Many are served on pretzel buns - YUM!

The waffle fries are crispy on the outside and softly chewy on the inside - plus they are fun to eat. Dipping sauces are available for only 45 cents each.

Oh yeah, save room for dessert! The Flourless Chocolate Cake is the best I ever had - super moist, indulgently dark chocolate with fresh strawberry sauce. Add a side of Chocolate Covered Bacon with Sea Salt - to round out your palette. Oh yeah, again!

Service was excellent - cheerful and attentive.

Be forewarned, you might leave stuffed, but you'll be smiling.

Overpriced hipster hotdogs- Yes.
Sketchy service- Yes
Worth a visit- Yes- if you can overlook the flaky, flighty, immature service

- Jackalope hotdog wrapped in flapjack: wow. i think i'll wrap everything in a flapjack from hereon out. that was definitely the way to go. the jackalope sausage was also delicious.
- Waffle fries: great with the dips we ordered
- Mac and cheese: basic at best; i wasn't super impressed
- Chocolate covered bacon: delicious; one of the best ones i've tasted.
- Ice cream float: YUM

Dining companions also had the bacon bloody mary which looked great if you like BMs.

Service was sketchy; the host was awesome- so sweet and gracious.
Our server was SUPER flighty. She'd be taking our orders and would get distracted by another table and actually Walked away to attend to them- in the middle of taking someone's order!
This happened a couple of times; if we weren't so buzzed with alcohol and was rushing off to a SXSW performance, we'd have said something to her.
Honestly, she acted like a flaky, flighty college sophomore. Not impressed.

We were just looking for a place to grab a beer or two or three, and a snack. The Chicago Dog was great!. And the Local Texas brew, i.e. Pearl was inexpensive, and good. The service is great, and it's right in the Heart of Downtown Austin.

Who knew a hot dog can have so many unique toppings on it!? The Frito pie here is also fantastic, and filling. Kid friendly.

We were visiting our daughter in Austin and she brought us here for breakfast/lunch. The first time we stopped (weekend) the wait was longer than what we wanted so we came back during the week and got right in. I highly recommend the Red Headed Stranger bloody mary -- I would love to have the recipe for the spices they use. We liked the Pearl beer to go with it, either as an "additive" to the bloody mary or on the side. The shrimp and grits were wonderful as was the cobb salad. They are known for their sausage and I can see why, it was very tastey. This is a very casual place and a little on the noisy side, but not overly. Service was very good, our waiter was attentive. It took a while to get our food, they were busy, but it was well worth the wait.
