Owner description: Beautiful park looming almost 800 feet over Austin.

The trek up was a little daunting for the kids but once up it was amazing. Watched the sunset and a wedding up at the top. Beautiful place with views of the city that are mind blowing. Go in the evening.

It doesn't take that long to reach the top of Mount Bonnell, and it wasn't awfully steep either. It's not really much of a hike at all. Once you reach the top, there's a small "park" with some benches that you can view the sunset from.

Always pretty clean every time I visited, but could be rather crowded.

This is a super short, nearly all vertical "hike" up to the top of the "mount"... but at the top there is a gorgeous, worthwhile view of the lake and the city so it's worth the trip to get awesome pictures. But, just don't expect a real hike if that's your purpose.

Nice view of downtown in the distance and the river in the foreground. A small park sits at the top of 106 steps from the parking lot. Worth a 1/2hr stay one evening. Obviously quite popular from the rubbish bins piled high with trash. Could be maintained a little bettr but maybe it wasbecasue we went just after the 4th July weekend..

My husband and I were driving around lost in Austin when we found ourselves driving past the parking area for Mount Bonnell. Since we had nowhere to be, we decided to stop and take the stairs to the top of this viewing area. We were not impressed by the view. Mt. Bonnell is a mere 775 ft. above sea level and the highest point in Austin limits. I was hoping for a better view but it seemed to me like the structure obstructed the best views. We didn't stay long so maybe we missed the best parts.
