“Loved the grounds and the history.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 7, 2013

Hot day in August, but shady enough to enjoy the beautifully manicured grounds and the famous tombstones and the history of the place.

“Scandal lovers will rejoice”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 28, 2013

Get a place on a tour. The docents here are great and they know where all the bodies are buried, if you'll forgive the pun. Texas history is filled with gory, tawdry and amazing tales. Loved it.

“History, history, history”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 13, 2013

the cemetery is beautiful and filled with Texas History. Stephen F. Austin, founder of Texas; Gen. Albert Sidney Johnston, Texas's top general during the Civil War; many former Texas governors and famous Texans are buried here. A very large beautifully landscaped cemetery near I-35 in the heart of Austin.

We had been told about the renovations done to this cemetary and were very pleased we visited. Beautiful grounds, flowers, and ponds. Free admission. Lovely place for quiet and thoughtful walking tour.

“Moving”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 26, 2013

You look upon the graves of men that fought for us and it's moving, I cried. I don't see how anyone could go there and it not move you to see so many deaths that fought for you to be free.
