This place is a great stop to make even if you don't plan to swim. The pool is gorgeous and a walk around it is worth taking in while visiting Zilker park. It was too cool for our liking to swim the day we visited, but I could definitely see spending an afternoon here in the hot summer months when I'm sure this place is packed. We visited after the peak season so entry was free.

Great place! Beautiful natural surroundings and educational at same time. Our visit was complete with a visit to Splash which provided us with history and information on the endanger Salamanders.

I live within walking distance to Barton Springs Pool and have been there many times, but only once in the pool. I had friends in town and they were game to go for a swim in November 2017. It was so cool...loved it.

There is nothing more Austin than spending a sweltering afternoon at Barton Springs. The water is cool and refreshing, the people watching is fabulous and the trees are beautiful. Parking can be tricky, plan to walk and pack light. Wear lots of sunscreen. Bring a towel and water, but leave the food at home because it can create ant problems. Kid friendly. No dogs. (within in the gates) I strongly recommend bringing a floatation device no matter how old you are. Just jumping in is the best way to acclimate to the chilly water.

Wishing we had something similar in our area. This is a terrific pool in a natural setting while in the middle of a city. Confused? Take a ride to see this place and you too will wish you had it in your neck of the woods too!

In the heart of Austin and fantastic. Felt old school & lush. The spring water was cool on a warm day and found a turtle :-) Swimming the length of the pool is great exercise. This is unique & well worth the experience!

This was such a cool place to see, as I had never seen anything like it before. Enjoyed learning about the history, and ecology of the pool ,springs and creek. We were there shortly after historical flooding in the area and the pool was closed to swimming at our visit, but we enjoyed the nature preserve type museum and the area was lovely to walk around. It was just my husband and I, but it definitely was a great place for children.

Barton springs far exceeded my expectations when it comes to a public swimming place. It is well kept and very clean. They have life guards on duty providing a safe environment too. It is a great place to cool off during the hot summer season and offers a fun atmosphere. They have it sectioned so rafts are allowed in one area, driving board in another, deep section for swimmers, also shallow for kids. Also. There is another area entirely for people to bring their dogs to play, which is cool. There are plenty of places to sun bath and people watch .

Wonderful place to be on a warm breezy day - If you want to lay out for a tan or swim a few laps, Barton Springs is the place to be.

Barton Springs represents all that Austin is, eclectic, simple yet savvy set amongst a gorgeous backdrop! Remember to bring your goggles or mask for the little ones so they can “scuba dive” and explore the underwater world of the springs. A blanket, book but no food or the lifeguards will quickly make a visit!
Having a tube, noodle or something to float on is a great idea, too.
