Owner description: Over the years, people have come to this 1,000 foot long natural limestone pool, fed by several underground springs, for everything from fishing and swimming to baptisms and beauty pageants.

I was extremely disappointed in the Barton Springs Pool. It was pretty dirty, in my opinion. Worse than that, though, is the fact that there were a group of women who were swimming topless. When we asked management about that, they said there were no rules requiring women to wear bathing suit tops. I have no problem with nudity but expected to be able to take my family out for an afternoon swim without my children being exposed to half naked women.

Took my fiance here while in Austin for a birthday get-a-way. The location is very beautiful just off of downtown. The admission for both of us was only $6.00. The water was cold, but it was very nice. There was a diving board, and the depth went to 14 feet. There were public showers and lockers for no additional fee (just bring your own lock). This is a natural spring so there was grass on the bottom, fish swimming around, and moss on the bottom. We did a lot of sliding around...

If your looking for a great way to cool off - this is the place!

This natural spring is gorgeous. The main area of the 'pool' has concrete sides that were built in the early 1900's but the bottom remains natural. The water is beautifully clear and temps are moderate. There is a section blocked off for dog owners who want to take their dogs swimming. There is a cafe, picnic tables, grills, bath house, a cute train for children to ride & life guards. Some areas are free & some have a reasonable fee. The Barton Springs Park is well kept. A good destination for all, from a single individual to a group.

natural outdoor pool, its got rocks and algae underneath so it makes it like you are swimming in the lake but cleaner and safer. Lots of people and kids. theres a minimal charge, i think 2 dollars or so
