Owner description: If it's in Texas, it must be bigger and better. That is the motto that architects followed with the Capitol Building in Austin. At one time, it was the tallest capitol building in the nation. Others might be taller now, but this is still a beautiful building that shows off many of the natural resources which are so prevalent in Texas, such as limestone and the landscapes.

I love visiting the state Capitol. If you are in Austin be sure to take a guided tour. Texas has such a rich and interesting history and besides seeing the gorgeous architecture you'll learn about a fascinating people and history that is a place of pride for us Texans and a point of interest for anyone else. Enjoy!

Go to the capitol AND the Visitor's Center. Don't just go into the capitol building. You're going to get a very nice reception over at the Visitor's Center and the ladies were very informative. I'm pretty sure there are guided tours of the capitol building but we didn't have time so we just kind of wandered around and let ourselves be engulfed by the every-flowing tides of lobbyists. Wow, that came out of kind of flowery, but you get the idea. Stand in the rotunda, you never know who you might see. (I'm talking to you Rick Perry)

Great place to visit if you're up for some Texas political history. The view is amazing. Let's hope Austin doesn't change the site of the capital with new development obstructing our views.

The grounds are beautiful and the architecture inside is lovely as well. You can see the senate and house chambers, statues, pictures of previous governors and politicians, it's quite fascinating. However, I found the most fun to be on the outside of the museum. Walking around the grounds on a gorgeous day makes for awesome photographs.

Beautiful, regal, historic. We stay in downtown Austin when in town and have our morning run around the capitol. The grounds are lovely, staff friendly. Be sure to take the tour!
