Owner description: If it's in Texas, it must be bigger and better. That is the motto that architects followed with the Capitol Building in Austin. At one time, it was the tallest capitol building in the nation. Others might be taller now, but this is still a beautiful building that shows off many of the natural resources which are so prevalent in Texas, such as limestone and the landscapes.

Beautiful building in Austin and the Texas State Capitol but that is about it.. a Beautiful place to see but best if done in the Summer or Spring where you can walk around the campus.

“History and a Gift Shop”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 27, 2012

The Texas State Capitol is an impressive building with fairly significant access and history in every room. We enjoyed wandering on our own and reading the explanations (and history lessons) on the walls. There really is a fairly well-stocked gift shop as well.

“Well Worth A Visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 23, 2012

It's always great to view state buildings, especially when free tours are available. If you are in Austin, you should not skip this venue. The tour is informative and not too lengthy. The wait time to start the tour was not too long. Well worth it.

“WoW Factor!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 20, 2012

I must say, that the State Capitol in Austin is just magnificent. The red granite with "the ol lady" on the top is really a WOW. Its huge. Well I guess it's true, everyything is bigger in Texas. Next visit, I plan to go in. We were there during a very busy time of day and parking was an issue with young kids in tow.
