“Great location!”
Reviewed August 30, 2012

The room was a little out dated, but the staff was friendly and everything was exceptionally clean. My only complaint was that the wifi didn't work properly. My devices would sign on to their network, but the connectivity was terrible. Other than poor internet, everything else was great. It is easily one block away from the capital and a few blocks from 6th street.

My son is leaving Dallas to go to Austin College. He made a trip to meet with his FA rep. He stayed at this La Quinta. He had a wonderful experience. The staff is attentive. Management is excellent. Will definitely chose this hotel in the near future when I travel to see my son. Thanks La Quinta for taking care of my kiddo!

Room Tip: Walking distance to ACC! Safe area downtown.

Decent location so you can walk to downtown locations, but be prepared for a LOT of noise if you stay on the weekend. From about 1:24 a.m. - 4+ a.m. After the bars close, many guests have friends come back to the to the room for an after party and no matter how loud they are, until what hour, staff WILL NOT do anything about it. There is a 'security guard' on-site but he leaves shortly after 2 and is pretty much worthless. HUGE suggestion: call Austin PD personally and file a noise complaint. I'm all about fun, but during our last stay there were 10+ people yelling from the first floor to the third above and back, playing loud music from their car in the parking lot, etc. until after 4 a.m. and the staff 'didn't hear anything?!' RIGHT!

The only gripe I have with this place is that I did not get any sleep at all with the noise from the AC. The AC sounded like a generator. Actually the noise was not a problem, because I can tolerate it as background noise. However, the AC has an internal thermostat that allowed itself to automatically turn on and off. So, it woke me every time it turn on with all the noise. It was like off for 5 min, on for 30 min, off for 5 min and so on. It must have turned on/off a 100 times throughout the night. This is a bit of an exaggeration but you get the point.

if you're lucky enough to get a quieter AC, then I think you would enjoy your stay here. The bed is pretty comfy (that's a lot coming from someone who's used to a tempurpedic bed), the work desk is decent sized and bathroom is super clean. Also, if you're getting breakfast here, try the blueberry muffin, it's probably the best muffin I've ever tasted- it is super moist and not throat-constricting sweet. Or if you missed breakfast, check the front desk sitting area for leftover muffins.

I probably wouldn't return here just because I don't want to risk it and i was not able to do what I came and pay for-- sleep.
