The motel accommodations in Aspermont are better than many small towns in north central Texas, and Budget Inn is a good example of that. If you're looking for a major chain experience (e.g., Holiday Inn, Hampton, La Quinta, etc.), then this isn't for you. But if you are wanting a decent bed in a clean room at a very economical price, then I really believe you'll be satisfied with Budget Inn.
As I understand, the motel got some modest remodeling a few years ago (before the current owner), but it's been around for a long time. (I actually remember this motel from about 50 years back as I was raised in the area.) Although you might not guess it judging from the caliche parking lot, the motel has Wi-Fi (but I didn't take time to log on). The proprietor was very cordial, also. Unless you just want to drive to Abilene, I think you can get a good nights sleep here.
Just down the street to the south is the Hickman Cafe which has one of the best chicken-fried steaks that you could ever wish for. Of course, there is also the usual Dairy Queen in town, a feature shared by a lot of small Texas towns.
