We went to Cacharel today at lunch to celebrate my birthday. Of the five of us, three of us got the pecan crusted chicken which was simply delicious ($13.95)! One of us got the penne pasta with chicken (had a red pepper cream sauce) ($14.95?) and it was well-portioned. But, unfortunately, one of us got sea scallops and shrimp ($16.75). I kid you not, there were TWO SMALL shrimp and TWO SMALL SCALLOPS on her plate! It came with a molded (formed) eggplant side. We all had to take food off our plates to give to her, as she did not have enough to eat!
The bread provided was delicious, and good to fill up on b/c other than the pasta dish the others weren't very large! We ordered chocolate and Grand Marnier souffles ($6.75) , which were heavenly (you must order them at the beginning of the meal to give them time to prepare). The creme brulee' was also good but not great ($6.75).
Overall, the meal was nice, but it was hard to move past the skimpy seafood plate - the most expensive thing we ordered. It kind of put a damper on the mood... We didn't say anything to the waiter as it would have made things uncomfortable, but my Dad (who bought) says he's mad enough to write a letter to the restaurant to complain (I've NEVER heard him say this before in my life!).
It was very quiet there, with classical music playing in the background. The lunch crowd was very light - we were the only ones there until about 12:20pm!
