“Great Place to Stay”
Reviewed August 5, 2007

My husband and I just got back from a weekend stay at the Homewood Suites in Arlington (August 3rd and 4th). The hotel was very clean. The bed, pillows, and towels were high quality. The room with the extra living area and kitchenette made it even more comfortable and home-like.

The staff were extremely helpful and very friendly. I read the other reviews regarding this hotel and we did not have any problems whatsoever with the noise levels. We were in room 106 and never heard any outside or hallway sounds. The room was quiet. The shower pressure and temperature was just right. The breakfast is complimentary and there is a large selection (yogurt, fruit, scrambled eggs, waffles, bagels, muffins, ham (sausage on Sunday), biscuits and gravy, potato hashbrowns). The assistant manager, Christy, really works hard to make sure that all guests have an outstanding experience.

I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

What an awesome experience at Homewood Suites! My family of five stayed here for 4 nights in July at a rate of $144 per night. The two room suite was perfect for our family. The suite includes a full sized refrigerator and stove, wireless internet, large bathroom area and very comfortable beds. Plenty of room for the 5 of us. The hotel offers a free breakfast that included eggs, hashbrowns and a meat. Also, the standard bagels, toast, juice and coffee. The night time meals are the best. These are also complimentary, and included meatball sandwich night, hamburger night and pasta night while we were there. The meals also included a salad and free beer and wine. This helped us save a ton of money on meals.

The hotel is across the street from Six Flags and within walking distance of The Ballpark at Arlington. The new Dallas Cowboys Stadium is going in just down the street. The staff was very friendly and always helpful with any questions. Housekeeping was top-notch. Restaurants are very close by and included Joe's Crab Shack, Bennigans and Chedders. Wal-Mart is also within a mile of the hotel and very easy to get to.

Cannot say enough about our experience at Homewood Suites. Thank you Homewood and Arlington for a great vacation experience. If you like soccer, go see FC Dallas play in Frisco at the Pizza Hut Park.

I stay at the Homewood every summer at some point, and I absolutely love it! I went one year with my dad, and we've brought the whole family ever since. The suites have worked well for a family with three kids who don't want to share a bed. The pool is very nice, the breakfast is delicious, and the store is usually well-stocked. The closeness to Six Flags and the ballpark are also very helpful, and the cabs the hotel calls are often very nice.

We stayed at the Homewood Suites Arlington over Fall Break to visit the Dallas and Fort Worth areas. The hotel was very clean, the room was great - layout of the room was fine. We had a door to separate the bedroom from the living room. The bedroom had two Queen beds.

Breakfast was okay - I've had much better "hot" breakfasts at other hotels in the same price range.

The problem we had is that our room was on the corner next to an alley. On a Thursday morning a garbage truck rumbled through and picked up the garbage in the alley at 2:30am!! Then on Saturday - a day most people like to sleep in - the garbage truck came through at 5:30am. Our whole family was awakened by this both days. The outside walls of the hotel are VERY thin - and if you face the expressway, the sound is very loud. The noise could not be drowned out with the air running!

So if you don't mind being awakened early in the morning on your vacation, and you can fall asleep to the sound of traffic rushing by your room- then this hotel is for you.

  • Disliked — Outside noise

We stayed one night at the Homewood Suites (Hilton) on October 28, 2006. We had never stayed at a Homewood before. I would highly recommend a stay in the Homewood suites to families seeking an apartment style home away from home. My husband and I (late 30's & 40) stayed here with our children ages 7, 6, and 4. After searching all the major travel engines and calling the 1(800) hotel number, I found the cheapest rate at the hotel's own website. $109 per nite (not inc. tx) included a trip to the "suite shop" for candy or soft drink and a wonderful breakfast.

Homewood offers three types of suites to choose from: (1)Studio Suite...bedroom, sitting area and kitchen all open
(2)One Bdrm Suite...bedroom and living area/kitchen separated by a wall with a door to bedroom (3)Two Bdrm Suite...sitting area/kitchen in the center with a wall on each side and doors that enter into two different bedrooms. We stayed in the One Bdrm. Suite (room 122) and it was plenty of space for 2 adults with 3 small children. My husband and I got the King bed in the bedroom and the sofa in the living area pulled out to a full bed for the oldest children while we made a bed out of the sofa cushions on the floor for our youngest. Room service was more than happy to send us extra bedding for this make-shift bed. The bathroom was clean and spacious with good water pressure in the shower. The toilet and shower are separated from the sink/vanity by a door...lots of space on the vanity for make-up bag, toothbrushes, etc. Hairdryer is provided and worked fine. Neutrogena brand shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and soap...nice. Towels are thick and soft...no stains. The mattress on our king bed was above average as were the linens and pillows. Closet is full size and dresser has lots of storage for clothes for longer stays. The kitchen has a full fridge with freezer and ice maker on top, a full size dishwasher, and a stove. Coffee with fixin's, hot tea bags, and microwave popcorn are in a basket on the counter next to the coffee maker. Dishes, silverware and even a measuring cup in the cabinets; everything you should need if cooking. They will even do your grocery shopping for you (for a fee) if you call ahead with your request. I was very impressed with the cleanliness of our suite and felt very comfortable. A couple of added bonuses were the ceiling fan in our bedroom (like home) and the two t.v.'s...one in our room and one for the kids in the living area.

Free breakfast at most hotels is cereal or muffins with coffee. Not so at the Homewood Suites. This hot breakfast offers something for everyone. They had scrambled eggs, sausage, bisquits, gravy, toast, bagels, muffins, yogurt, fruit, oatmeal, several types of cereal, three juices, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and premade batter in cups that you pour into the industrial waffle makers to make yummy Belgian waffles with strawberries and powdered sugar on top! What a treat! This is all served in an open kitchen that looks like it belongs in someone's home. Guests can eat in the dining area or choose to go outside on the patio where there are tables and two grills if you should choose to cook outside for dinner during your stay.

We took advantage of the indoor pool and hot tub while we were there. Nice towels are located in the pool area and plenty of seating. If you are traveling from a distance it is nice to have an indoor pool in the event of inclement weather so the kids have something to do. Everything was clean but I do wish the pool was a tad warmer. Hot tub was great after a long day at Six Flags! Speaking of Six Flags, this hotel is just a short walk from the entrance but far enough away that you don't hear any of the noise. We took our jogger for the youngest and walked to the amusement park with no problems. Just be careful crossing the street with young ones! I WOULD NOT recommend doing the weekend before Halloween at Six Flags. The crowds were horrible and mostly consisted of pre-teens and teenagers walking SLOWLY in large groups that were impossible to get around. I was thankful we had the jogger for our 4 year old bc I felt he was safer and easier to watch that way.

Suggestions: We are planning on going back to Homewood Suites again in the summer. Next time, we will stay two nights. We will do Six Flags one day and Hurricane Harbor (a five minute drive) on the next day. I would recommend either calling ahead to have groceries delivered or doing your own grocery shopping after you get there. For Six Flags, I would recommend walking back to your room for meals because the food there is WAY overpriced and it tastes horrible...no healthy eating choices to speak of. If you don't want to walk back, then pack sandwiches and take a cooler (using the ice maker in your fridge) and rent a locker at the park to store your lunch. Be sure to pack H2O bc the water at the park is $3.50 per bottle...outrageous! They do not allow coolers in the park but they did allow us to bring in bottles of water in the bottom of our jogger. I wish I would have packed some crackers or snacks for the kids in there! They have a nice picnic area for eating. I would pack a cooler for Hurricane Harbor bc they do allow coolers in the waterpark. Go early and find a place in the shade to park your cooler. If you don't want to think about fixing food while on vacation, there are several restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. We took advantage of the Palaminos Las Vegas style buffet after the long day at Six Flags. If is located just infront of the hotel. Bennigan's and Humperdink's are within walking distance too. We just went for the buffet bc with kids there is something for everyone.

My final suggestion is a repeat...do NOT try to do Six Flags during "Fright Fest" with small children. I have been to Six Flags with my kids for the past couple of summers and never experienced crowds like this. The lines at major rides were 1 1/2 hours long (we asked) and the walking in general reminded me of being pack in a sardine can. When we left the park at 7pm, the ticket booths were closed (park hours were 10am to 10pm) and the police officer I spoke with said that the fire marshall might not let us back in even though we had our hands stamped before we left. The only plus was that the park had hired plenty of extra police officers who were very visable everywhere in the park.

After driving around for an hour trying to find an available room in a decent area we stumbled upon this Homewood Suites. We were EXTREMELY greatful to get a great rate because we were in town to take our daughter to the children's hospital! We were SHOCKED at the size of our room! There was a queen bed and bathroom in one room and a "livingroom" kitchen combo in the other room seperated by a door and TVs in both rooms. The kitchen was a full kitchen with everything you need to cook, including utensils. The sofa was a hide a bed, which was a bit unconfortable for the kids because it was broke, but not a huge deal. Bennignas resturant was across the parking lot and WONDERFUL! Having a full kitchen, we were able to take our left overs back to the room and heat them up for dinner.

Monday thru thursday is welcome home nights where you get a free meal and wine or beer. We didn't go, but it looked great. Breakfast was WONDERFUL and very filling. We went down near closing time and there was still hot food and lots of it with everything you can imagine.

The staff was wonderful and very friendly. The pool and hot tub were excellent after a stressful day.

Six flags was just a stones throw from our room but we didn't go. If we return, this will be our hotel of choice and I would happily pay the full price!!

This is an above average Hotel as far as Homewood Suites go. Free beer after 6 pm and good breakfast in the morning. The best thing about this Hotel is it's close to Cowboy's, one of the best country honky tonks in the DFW area. Also, Humperdinks is just out the back door and also close to the ball park.
