Wyndham Garden Amarillo
Ranked #60 of 72 Hotels in Amarillo

The hotel is getting a bit dated, and seemed to be besieged by quite a few families with young children, crowding the pool sufficiently that we did not even consider usng it. There was only one desk clerk on duty, so the rather inquisitive 20-questions mom in front of me caused a bit of a backup line at check-in (Although, that guest might rank the clerk as very helpful.). Breakfast was fairly typical of other hotels who offer buffet breakfast, but it is always nice for that to be included in the price. There are at least a half dozen other hotels that I would chose next time over this one. It wasn't really bad, at all, but nohing special - just a notch or two downscale from a Homewood Suites or Drury Inn. The TGI Friday restaurant connected to the lobby is very convenient.

We stayed here for one night and overall had an OK stay. If you like to play a game of pool, there's a place called Fast Eddy's right next door which can accomadate this very well (at least to our experience).

The good:
-Nice ambience
-Very nice breakfast buffet
-Cheap (priceline)

The bad:
-Towels with brown and or red stains on it. This is unacceptable!
-Rooms pretty dated, bathroom sink didnt drain well

Went to the Ambassador for one night, St. Pattys. Hotel staff was great. We got the wrong room to start with, but the front desk was very helpful and had us in the right room within about 5 min. Room was very clean. Beds were super comfy. Can not say enough about the driver Jimmy for the hotel, was nice, on time, and took us to the best places in town. Overall everything was fantastic.

The staff of the hotel are great, the stay was very nice, but it's a bit outdated. The bathrooms in the guest rooms and very small.. and you can just tell a lot needs to be updated. But still a nice place to stay. TGI Fridays for room service, YUM!

My husband and I stayed here on our way to Colorado. We are pretty easy to please and stayed at the Ambassador in Abilene. This hotel was old, outdated and kind of creepy. The breakfast was horrible. The eggs tasted like imitation freeze dried eggs. We weren't looking for the Ritz but this was less than a Best Western. We also assumed it was like the one in Abilene which had a fridge and microwave but we assumed wrong. We had considered the Courtyard and will be staying there on the way home.

Dear Guest
Thank you for your comments. In the description of our rooms it clearly states that we are not a suite hotel, which is what you stayed at in Abilene. We are however more than happy to provide refrigerators and microwaves to our guests that request them and base it on availability.

Priceline win. Hotel is dated by about 20 years. Staff was pleasant. Room was large, but very dated and our carpet was wet! Beds were comfortable. Room was clean. Breakfast was OK, nothing great.

Now for the big plus. We chose not to eat at the TGIF on site (I don't like them). Instead we walked across a parking lot to a nondescript mall type building to a place called Joe Macaroni (I think). Decor was fubulous, food was excellent, service was excellent. So pass on TGIF and walk accross the parking lot if you like Italian!
