“Third Times a Charm”
Reviewed July 15, 2013

This was our third stay at this location and the first two times were a disaster with rude staff, dirty rooms and bad food. Because of necessity we ended up having to spend the night here again (I wasn’t looking forward to it either). When we were walking into the lobby I was trying to figure out how we could drive another 7 hours so we wouldn’t have to stay there. But within 10 seconds after entering the lobby I was aware that something had changed. It had a totally different feeling than the other two times.

I had to wait maybe ten seconds while the desk clerk finished up with another guest and the first words out of her mouth was she was sorry for the wait. What, on another trip I had to wait over ten minutes to be waited on and when I complained to the GM she told me that I had the problem, it wasn’t her staff. This time I didn’t recognize any of the staff; all new faces.

While checking in the Desk clerk noticed that there was an issue with one of the keys as she was programming them and redid it so we wouldn’t have any problems. Getting to the room I found that it was clean, pleasant smelling and the temp was nice. Other times the AC had been turned off, trash on the floor and urine in the toilet.

I can’t comment on the food as we had gotten there too late to eat, but with all the other huge changes that we have seen we have no problems staying or recommending this location.

I went back to reread my other two posts about this location and noticed that the managers response had been changed. I didn’t know that you could change the comments.

In closing there have been lots of great changes to the hotel with a great staff representing the brand!!!

This was the third Drury Inn which we stayed on our trip. It was the most expensive and the dirtiest (common areas anyways). The chain is dog friendly. The room was fine, the staff was good, the food was ok. Bonus points for free booze in the evening though.

This hotel has 6 floors and offers smoking rooms. Half of the sixth floor is smoking, half is not. The room did not smell of smoke odor permeated down the corridor so if you don't want the smelly odor, don't go to the sixth floor.

The hotel clerks were very friendly and helpful.

Breakfast and 5:30 Kickback the usual Drury offerings. There are several nice restaurants within walking distance.

Room Tip: If you don't like cigarette smell, don't get a room on the sixth floor!

Stayed here on our way to Colorado and again on the way back. Absolutely chose Drury because it is pet-friendly, but would gladly stay here even without the pooches. Clean rooms, great service, good bathrooms, comfortable beds. Free continental breakfast with waffles, scrambled eggs and sausage, hot and cold cereals, etc. They also have a 5:30 happy hour (each adult gets 3 adult beverages...) and a huge spread of food to nosh on. It's either a fantastic way NOT to have to go out to eat or an embarrassing overeating experience, depending on your point of view. Good for hungry kiddos, though, and definitely a good value if that's a priority. Exceptional welcome from desk staff--seriously friendly Texas hospitality. Walking distance to good restaurants (so don't eat too much at happy hour, seriously). Would definitely stay again!

Room Tip: Higher floors are definitely quieter.

My family has stayed here twice now on our way to Colorado. We travel with small kids and our dogs and this has been a perfect stop for us. The location is great --- right on the interstate with great parking. There are lots of other new hotels in the immediate vicinity but I have no reason to check any of them out because we're happy with the Drury option. The staff is very friendly and responsive. We stay in a suite and its nice to have the extra space and kitchen amenities. Restaurants are within walking distance. The pool and hot tub are great for the kids. Breakfast is included. A very good value and our pick for stays in the Amarillo area.

This hotel was very nice - clean but the furnishings are a bit dated. We chose it because of the great pet reviews and it IS a very pet friendly hotel. Dogs are everywhere. We are traveling with 2 dogs and 2 kids and the level of activity was quite high. Kids and dogs are all over. The staff is very helpful & friendly. If you are looking for a quiet calm place - this is not it!

On a trip out west this past October, we stayed at the Drury Inn off of Interstate 40 in Amarillo, Texas. It was recommended by our AAA guide and it was terrific. The lobby and hotel itself was beautifully decorated and looked quite upscale. The clerk was very friendly and went out of her way to accommodate my wife who is very allergic to cats. The hotel is pet friendly (no fees), but she gave us a room for our small dog that had not been used as one of their pet designated rooms to be sure
The hotel offers 2 free drinks along with free dinner. The dinner was spaghetti with meatballs and salad, and they offered hot dogs as well. Not a gourmet dinner, but after a long day driving, it was nice to stay in the hotel and not have to find a restaurant.
We had such a pleasant experience, we found another Drury inn in Flagstaff, AZ, and have been looking for them on other occasions, but they seem to in selected states.
