“Lots to see and do!”

We had a 30 min wait for a table. It was packed! Enjoyed taking pics with the 'dummies', looking at the various historical vignettes, and watching a poor Irish bloke try to eat a 72 oz steak! He gave in at the 30 min mark, btw! We were also serenaded by a lovely string trio. I've had better tasting steaks, but you pay for the atmosphere and to hear the cooks yell out when they throw a fresh one on the grill! Prime people gawking, as well as a healthy dose of Texas-sized kitsch! A must-see/do if you've never been and are in Amarillo.

“Paying for the Experience”
Reviewed July 21, 2014

When we went to the Big Texan Steak Ranch, I felt like the food was average. There was nothing really special about it. I felt I was paying more for the experience and the atmosphere than anything else. When we walked in immediately I noticed how large it was. There is a gift shop, a candy store, slot machines, and in the back there are several things for the kids. There is a maze, panning for rocks, etc. I feel that if you are wanting an experience and a fun atmosphere this is the place for you.

What a great place to go with friends. It was very busy but we didn't care. The beer garden was great for waiting. The food and staff are great. I cant wait to go back through there.

“Horrific food”
Reviewed July 20, 2014 via mobile

Stopped here on the way from Dallas to colorado. Had heard good things about this place. Oh wow what a waste of money. This is one of the worst meals we have had in our lives. How in the world can u mess up coleslaw. Our kids cheeseburger only had half of the top bun. The steak we ordered was over cooked and half fat. And watered down A-1 sauce? We wouldn't eat there again if they paid us.

“Enjoyed All of It”
Reviewed July 20, 2014

We could have gone to any number of steak houses (I especially wanted to hit the Salt Grass) but chose to go here. Even though many of the reviews were negative. I can just picture folks with their noses in the air, sniffing disdainfully at the supposed hokeyness of it all. We went on a Friday night and the place was packed. Still we didn't have to wait too long, barely time for us to wander through the gift shop. Our meal was perfect, the waitress a pro, the wandering trio of western musicians a delight and we got to see 5 Australian men go for the 72 oz. steak meal. Don't go here expecting Ruth Chris or even Longhorn. Go to enjoy the atmosphere and the meal will be a pleasant surprise.
