“Great Steaks”
Reviewed July 26, 2013

You really can't fault the quality of the beef here, the steaks are delicious and cooked in a showmanlike way in view of the main restaurant. Not cheap, but really good. The place is very busy, but the bar is nice to sit at while you wait for your table and the wait was not too bad even though we were there Friday and Saturday nights. Quaint old entertainers played requests at the tables, and there's always the fun of watching someone attempt the 72oz challenge. Only two small disappointments, the butter portions are mean, and not butter! ("Land O' Lakes Buttery Style Spread"), and the chicken fried steak is a real let down especially after the excellent sirloin. Don't go there, it's reformed and mushy. Interesting range of beers from their own brewery but most are very strong so watch out!
Breakfast buffet not cheap but good. Plenty of choice all nicely prepared and cooked.

“Mediocre food but an interesting cultural experience”
Reviewed July 24, 2013

If you are from outside of the region and have never been to Texas, it may be worth a stop to just be like, "Oh my goodness, every stereotype of Texas is 100% true!" - including many of the not-so-nice ones about how they treat outsiders. But the food was pretty terrible and overpriced, so don't plan to eat much there. The drinks were weak, the ribs overseasoned, the mac and cheese out of a box...I'm sure there are better places for authentic Texas barbecue.

“Definitely worth going to”
Reviewed July 24, 2013

The restaurant has an excellent setting with live music playing and excellent decor. The food was excellent and very good value for the amount given. If you're lucky, it's very entertaining to catch someone attempting their famous 'free 72oz steak'. If you're driving past Amarillo, make sure you stop here!

“Great steak but your bill can be big as Texas”
Reviewed July 23, 2013

Enjoyed the food and atmosphere (I realize this is what you are paying for)...but when the bill came, it was too steep for the total experience. Still...I'd stop again.

“Fun place!”
Reviewed July 23, 2013 via mobile

Stopped on our way home after seeing the signs for the 72 oz steak for miles and miles. Didn't try the challenge but did eat good food including Rocky Mountain Oysters!
