Definitely a tourist trap and a little more pricey then your average steakhouse in amarillo but was still very good food and good service. Would have not be as thrilled with it if there wasn't a lady doing the big texan challenge when I was there.

The food here is good, but there more here than just eating. There is a maze, shooting gallery, live music, bar, and more. This is a great place to bring the family to and unwind for a little while, especially, if you traveling down I-40 and need a break. You can eat a good meal, nad the kids can burn off some energy. The 72 ounce steak is massive, and you will probably hurt yourself if you try to eat it all in an hour.....

We went to the Big Texan Steak Ranch because we saw advertising signs along the highway. For two meals, with water as drinks, it cost us $55.00. One of our meals was a chopped steak and the other was a sirloin center. We were "nickled and dimed" with things such as blue cheese topper for the salad and loaded baked potato, etc......both of which the waitress did not share that there would be an additional charge. The seating in the place is so crowded - it was not comfortable seating at all. We rarely saw our waitress and had to wait to order after we sat for 20 minutes. Overall, my husband and I wouldn't go back if in the area. Once was enough for what we got.

Probably not. Take away the hype and you are left with a good quality big steak served by nice people like in many other place for a decent price.
So all in all just another nice steak house. With a lot a fuzz.
Unless you wanna try to beat the wolves capable of eating a 72 oz. piece of meat plus the sides in one hour ...

I'm a local and we enjoy going to this place with out of town friends. It is an experience to see the rattlesnake and wear the cowboy hats they bring for the kids'. The food is good but priced for tourists. Still, you know you are paying for some entertainment factor. It is a fun memory making place, especially if someone is at the center table trying to eat the huge steak in under an hour!
