The food at this very conspicuous restaurant on I-40 is just mediocre and is somewhat overpriced. The steaks are small and over-cooked. There are so much better steak restaurants in Amarillo that I don't recommend stopping here.

I was very disappointed in the Big Texan. I had a Big Texan ribeye steak, and couldn't cut it with the knife provided. It was full of greasy gristle and left tough strings between my teeth. It was a fun, Texas themed place, lots of animal heads and western items, and the service was good and friendly, but... one should be able to enjoy their signature dish.

The T-Bone steak was cooked to perfection and the sides were very good. The wait staff was very attentive and friendly. There is plenty of seating available. It was fun watching someone attempt to eat the 72 oz. steak dinner while the clock ticked down. It is a tourist location but the food was very good and the price is competitive with other steak restaurants.

I arived around noon just in time for lunch and some football,
i had the rib and brisket combo and it was great. They have their own brewery so I tried several of their craft beers while watching football. I liked the the whiskey barrel stout and the texas red ale
iwent to my room for a little nap and then back for a nice steak dinner and sunday night football. you can eat and drink at the bar.
i was staying at the Big Texan Motel so I didn't have to drive it's a short walk across the parking lot to nice comfortable room
i was disappointed that no tried to take on the 72 oz. steak challenge but it fun and the staff was friendly

We had a Wonderful Experience in Dining Pleasure at The Big Texan! Our Waitress was a Sweetheart! The Food was Absolutely Wonderful and Plentiful! They even had a Country Western Trio walking from table to table playing your Favorite Old Country Western Song! This place is Huge! They can seat up to 500 people at a time and wait time is short! Decorated to the Hilt, you will feel like you are "Eating on The Ranch" with all your best friends and Family to serve you! Don't miss "The Big Texan Steak House" for a Fun Experience in Dining! They even make their own beer... Served Cold and Mighty Tasty!
Order their 72 Ounce Streak, eat it all in "One Hour" and it's FREE!
