Busy at 3pm Sundays filled with the local mexican americans. The food is great authentic mexican, and very good from start-salsa-to end-dessert. The beef soft taco plate is as good as I have had anywhere. Great menue choices and good family atmosphere.

Loved eating at El tejavan. Excellent food. Super nice staff. The rice was perfect, and the salsa spicy. The chips stay full and portions were more than we could eat. We will be back!

Don't show up if you are looking for typical TEX-MEX. There is no yellow cheese. NO bowls of queso. Which is a good thing.
Theses are dishes that highlight really fresh ingredients prepared in simple authentic ways. You can find food like this in the interior of Mexico and on the coasts. Get the corn tortillas, not the flour. They are the best you'll ever have - seriously.
Favorites: Tacos Adobado (pork) - like simple street tacos; Sopa de Mariscos - get it hot.
I eat here once a week on average, but would be ready to go back any day.

El Tejavan looks like a small dive from the outside, but the interior has been remodeled and is attractive. The food is reliable, plentiful and tasty. None of the menu items are particularly different or creative, but are well-prepared. Try the guisada de res or the chicken enchiladas. Ask for the chunky guacamole instead of the smooth if you like that fresh avocado taste and texture. The chips and salsa are free and delicious. Service is usually very good, even at the busy lunch hour.
