“relaxing place to visit”
Reviewed April 30, 2013

I regularly visit the botanical gardens in Amarillo because it is one of the only green places in town. It is well maintained and has a variety of plants in indoor and outdoor gardens.

“Different for this area”

Interesting outdoor garden with native plants. The best part is the tropical indoor garden. It is a lovely, peaceful place.

The flowers are so beautiful. The grounds are well kept, and the banquet room was very nice. It made a beautiful place to have an event.

“Beautiful to Visit, Even Better to Support as a Member”
Reviewed November 30, 2012

Amarillo Botanical Garden is an oasis in the sometimes dry, dusty Panhandle. If you haven't visited it in the last several years, you will be impressed. The eye-catching glass pyramid is an indoor conservatory filled with tropical plants, including orchids, bananas and bromeliads. Outside there are arbors, water features, cottage gardents, a grassland exhibit and dozens of unexpected surprises. The setting in Medi-Park, with a playground and duck ponds, and the Discovery Center science museum next door, makes for a special day, especially with children.

If you live in the area and aren't an ABG supporter, you are missing out. Your membership entitles you to use the Gardens for weddings, photo shoots, etc. at a discount. My child's senior pictures were taken there and are breath-taking. You'll be notified of ABG's terrific plant sale in May and the annual iris and daylilies sales. The Music in the Gardens series during the summer is a fabulous picnic opportunity. Best of all, you can take their gardening classes. We took the one on growing tomatoes in the Panhandle and the one on winter vegetable gardening and learned so much that we, as experienced gardeners, didn't know. Our tomatoes were spectacular this year!
