“Nice, quiet and nothing to complain about”

We were abit wary about booking this hotel, as it has mixed reviews on the different websites, but it was a nice and exceeded our expectations. The room was spacious with a fridge and microwave, which was handy. It was clean and quiet. Breakfast was basic, but better than other hotels that we have paid more for and the hotel staff were friendly. Overall the hotel was well worth the money.
P.S. There is no tea and coffee maker in the room, but hot water, coffee and packets of hot choc/tea are available next to reception 24hours.

After reading the reviews, I was afraid to book this hotel, but we had a very positive experience. The lobby did not smell as some reviews had said. The woman at the desk was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. and larger than most. Beds were comfortable. Plenty of hot water. The breakfast was disappointing, but that was the only negative. I would definitely stay here again. Better than most in Amarillo.

We used our points to book this hotel.

It smelled of cheap perfume the minute you walked in the door,
that and a very bad body odor of the person beind the desk.

Our room smelled worse and after 1/2 an our of open windows and running the a/c while getting dinner, the smell was even stronger than before.

We finally had to check out an hour after we checked in and find another hotel.
I had a headache and sinus problems for several hours after leaving this hotel.

If you don't mind strong smelling perfume that you can't get rid of it's okay,
otherwise find something else.

I paid top dollar for this hotel, $89 for one night. Gawd awful crappy. Do not be taken in by the lovely fascade of the building and the floors to the room, the rooms are ghastly. Firstly, we find a pair of dirty long johns in the top drawer of the dresser. That, alone, should have been the worst of it. Unfortunately, not. The beds were hard, worn and springy, the round shower curtain rod was broken and the water poured out of the shower, you had to basically "shave" the towels to avoid scratching your face or body on them, the T.V. was ready to fall off the arm it was affixed to on the wall and when we checked out there was a couple walking their two huge dogs down the hall of this supposedly "no pet" hotel. Outrageous. The front desk clerk was completely uninterested. Beyond horrible, please avoid at all costs.

Arrived late in amarillo very tired, and the night desk person was rude, standoffish, and claimed our online booking had not been received by the hotel. After showing him a confirmation email sent to me, he said it wasn't good enough. I had to call the travel company and get them to fax a reservation over. Zero customer service from Microtel clerk.

Also, not sure if all rooms are like this, I hope not. Our room had a large mirror behind the beds that was darker in appearance...like a one way mirror. Very creepy. We were too tired to complain or request another room.

Stay away from Microtel.

Overall, my wife and I were satisfied with this hotel (booked for a one night stop). However, the range of food for breakfast was limited. In particular, there was no ordinary bread nor waffles. Don't be fooled by the Long John Silver 'fish' restaurant, almost opposite the hotel. It offered very little fish, and is the first fish restaurant we have visited that mostly sells hamburgers!
