“Convenient, fast service near medical center”
Reviewed August 23, 2014

This is my favorite place to go for lunch near the Amarillo medical center. They always seat me promptly even when busy at lunch, and the food is prepared fast enough for me to get back to work on time.

Service is generally friendly, but not overly so. They are concentrating on getting food out rather than chit-chat, which I appreciate.

The menu is extensive. Perhaps too extensive. They have custom names like "Ernie's Enchiladas". OK, I have eaten at hundreds of TexMex places, and I have no clue what an Ernies Enchilada is. (Essentially a basic enchilada, the Ernie part is just trying to be cute...). However all the names are like this, so if this is your first time allow extra time just to read the menu.

Why only 4 stars? OK, this is not a high end restaurant where you dress up. And the food is good, but not in the top 5%, which is what it takes for me to give 5 stars. This is Gringo based TexMex , and is heavier on Tex than Mex.

Joe Taco is great for fast, basic TexMex, where you can get in and out, and chat with friends while you eat.

Absolutely love this place! Great food mixed with a fun atmosphere. I actually finished my whole plate of food. Gonna go back on a Fri night for music and a mojito.

“Flies a Real Problem. Ick!”
Reviewed July 13, 2014 via mobile

The food was marginal at best - we had Baja Fish Tacos and Taco Truck tacos with fajita beef. They were just okay - not up to the rave reviews that prompted our visit. Won't go back and recommend others not go until they fix the fly problem, remove the porta potties from an entrance and move trash dumpster from within 10 feet of same entrance. It is no wonder they have a fly problem. Ewwww.

The hangover burrito and truck tacos were favorites. Stuffed avocado and fajitas good. Service fast and friendly at 2pm.

“Very Good Mexican food”
Reviewed July 3, 2014 via mobile

We eat Mexican food a lot, and Joe Taco has one of my favorites - the El Diablo Burrito. It was removed from the menu, but they still serve it if you ask for it. Be prepared for heat...it varies up and down some, but I always want a backup glass of tea/water, just in case. The salsa and chips are always good. The restaurant is on the small side, but cozy, with good service. The patio area is nice on a lot of days, esp. when there is live music. Those in our family that drink love the margaritas, too.
