Owner description: This mile-long stretch of road originally belonging to Route 66, now features shops, clubs and restaurants. Favorites include the Nat Ballroom, currently an antiques store, but a former stop for the Big Bands that passed through Amarillo, and the Golden Light Café, where the best hamburgers in town have been served for more than 50 years.

This is claims to be the tourist highlight of Amarillo. Lots of antique shops and a few restaurants/bars. Maybe more exciting on a Saturday afternoon but pretty deadly on a mid-September Friday afternoon. The promoters claim there are 100 antique shops but there appear to be a lot less and many former shops are closed or abandoned. So sad and not as visit-worthy as I'd anticipated.

“Get Your Kicks”
Reviewed September 9, 2013

This part of town is slowly but surely getting cooler. There are a few cafes that serve good food, but mostly it's a strip of antique malls. There is the famous "Golden Light" Cantina and Bar that has hosted numerous big- time Texas musicians over the years, as well as the old Natatorium that has been transformed into a local artisan market and antique warehouse. Nonetheless, it's an historic road that certainly shouldn't be missed if you're driving though!

“Antique Paradise”

We visit here often to shop the local antique stores. If you can't find what you're looking for here you can't find it anywhere.

Small enough to visit on a Saturday, big enough to find anything and everything you may want in good food, antiques, and specialty shops.

“Wonderful shopping experience!”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

We walked the block of all the antique stores and seemed to find something in every store. We love antiquing. Looking forward to the next trip to do more shopping.
