“Acceptable for the price”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 25, 2007

I got a room here with a discounted rate through my company and only paid half price, so considering the price, it wasn't that bad. However, if I paid any more than that I would have been pretty disappointed with our stay.
The reception area is very nice and clean, friendly staff, no complaints there. Our room however was a different story. The main problem was that our heater didn't work. We stayed there in late Nov. and it had snowed and was about 14 degrees outside so our room was freezing. The shower was really dirty, when I turned the water on, a bunch of yucky brown water came pouring out. Maybe it was well water or something, but it made me less than excited to take a shower! Overall, the room was pretty run down, small, and uncomfortable.
The breakfast in the morning wasn't much better. Yes, the selection is good, however most of it was inedible. The yogurt was frozen solid, the cream cheese for the bagels expired several months ago and was runny, the fruit was rotten, milk was warm ect. ect.
Overall, we were glad we didn't pay much money for this hotel and we were glad to check out.

Nice, surprisingly spacious room. Well lit. Clean.

Bed okay, not as comfortable as some (mattress a little hard).

Note that there is only a shower, no bathtub.

Continental breakfast was the best complimentary breakfast we've had; there were plenty of choices (pastries, bagels, muffins, make-your-own toast, coffee, 4 types of juice, hot chocolate, fruit, yogurt). Saved our family of 7 about $50 for breakfast elsewhere. Breakfast dining area had only 4 tables, but was nicely laid out.

Had to ask for extra washcloths; only two were provided, though 4 towels were provided.

Cracker Barrel is located just across the parking lot.

  • Liked — Clean, plenty of room
  • Disliked — Mattress was firmer than I like

The Sleep Inn had everything finer hotels would have: microwave, refrigerator, iron, hairdryer, TV, internet connection, comfortable bed and pillows, continental breakfast as well as next door to a Cracker Barrel.
Everything was clean, the air conditioner worked with no extra noise. Our interior room kept out the road noise as well.
We had driven 12 hours before we got there and had another 9 hours more to drive...so the comfort and all the amenities were appreciated.
Even more appreciated was a price under $70.

This is the last night of a 13-day vacation and the worst one of the entire trip. The hotel is noisy. It's right next to I-40 and not well insulated. The air-conditioning unit wouldn't keep running, so every time it shut off, I could hear everything from the noisy guests next door to running water and noisy late night arrivals. Not a pleasant experience at all. Not recommended.

We stayed here two nights, about five days apart, on our way to and from McKinney, Texas. The first night was not a pleasant experience - very small room (one queen bed), a lot of highway noise, room right across from ice and vending machines, the sink was somewhat plugged up, there was a lot of noise from the hall, and the topper was when we turned on the heat first thing in the morning, the smoke detector went off! We had better luck on our return trip, with a more tolerable room. I would suggest you request a room farther from the highway, as well as from the ice and vending machines. More importantly, get a room with two beds (even though they're only doubles) because the room is slightly bigger, and the extra bed comes in very handy as "counter space", which is sorely lacking in the sink area. Overall, this is not an awful place, but it's certainly nothing special.

  • Liked — It's right next door to a Cracker Barrel Restaurant and Country Store!
  • Disliked — the lack of counter space in the sink area
