Mark is awesome... can't get more Texas friendly than Mr. Mark. On our first evening there, we were invited to enjoy burgers and a cookout for their "private" celebration for an employee. A minor door-lock issue was easily squashed with great hospitality. The Maverick Inn served as a great launching point for our hiking in Ft. Davis, the Observatory, Marfa lights and of course Big Bend. The office is very welcoming and has a comfortable and inviting lodge feel... we found our kids (5-9 yrs) in there one morning sitting on the couches having a conversation (strange). The kitchen is come-and-go for breakfast with fully stocked fridge of juices, water, milk, bagels, english muffins, breads, butter, etc. The cupboards are stocked with coffees, tea, jellies, peanut butter, etc. Have it your way! We stayed in Room #11 right by the office. It has a small courtyard that the kids also enjoyed... room was very accommodating, comfortable, plenty of room, updated and clean. The bathroom and shower are also very large and clean. We would definitely stay here again.
