The tapas type menu is pretty limited. The steak quesadilla was outstanding, but with only 6 more items on the list we opted for another establishment for dinner. Their wine list is a little sparse, but we had a decent Pinot Gregio. The outside patio is very nice and I enjoyed a cigar out there. However the music was a little too loud for intimate conversation and the patio should be an area for that. Our server Andy, was great.

Heaters for the patio and perhaps ponchos like you find at the river walk would be appropriate for cooler weather too.

The bar is very well-stocked, with many uncommon spirits (Fernet Branca, Cynar, Aperol), which indicated that they're serious about good cocktails. I ordered a Bensonhurst (rye, vermouth, Fernet Branca, maraschino), which the bartender did not know how to make (it's not a common drink), but he was very eager to learn how. Awesome!

We were in Alpine for Labor Day weekend and ended up at this bar a couple of times. Very cool, very nice staff - all sorts of people were here - older, younger.. The interior is set up so nicely for every kind of party - chairs and coffee tables, bar to sit out and an outside area.

This is, for me, the neatest place to go in Alpine. It is large if not cavernous with a nice patio in the back that allows smoking. It is nicely decorated, if not a bit frou-frou, but within tolerable limits. Like most places in Alpine, it is a friendly accepting place. The bartenders talk to you and actually listen. I was told that a woman runs it and, consequently, keeps the place on the up and up so that single women are safe here.

They have a blackboard on the wall featuring about a dozen small plates. I burrito with tomato sauce(spicey, salsa like) and an guacomole salad plate(for folks from out of Texas, it is pronounced "WA ka mo lay" not "Gwak a mo lee". Both were quite good. In addition they have a small but commendable selection of beer on tap.

Interesting thing, the second time I was there was to go to the patio and have a Scotch and cigar. As I walked in, I informed the waitress standing at the end of the bar my intentions, and went to the back and found a table. Here she came with my Scotch rocks, very cheerful, paid her and started relaxiing. Then here she came again with another Scotch. Seems she and the bartender both made me a drink , so I got a twofer. Wonderful place!

For me this is the place where civilized folks in Alpine hang out. There are two other beer places there but both have a trashy, run down look and suggest that mainly bikers and drifters hang out there.
