“Salsa with a Bang!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 23, 2012

Don't understand the link between Mexican food and a blind cartoon character, however our lunch was Very Good! Combination enchilada plate and Asada plate were memorable! Good service and noticed server greeted a numbere of locals by name.

“For the regulars”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 2, 2012

I ate here twice, once just for biscuits and gravy and very poor coffee which was no surprise.

The second time was for lunch and got the Asado plate which was pork in some kind of mystery sauce. The refritos were basically beans but not bad. The rice, and this is something I noticed at another place, was , I suppose, way overcooked and almost mush. Everthing had a strange flavor, not bad , but different than anything I have experienced in TexMex food.

This is a real local place. It is always busy and sort of a meet and greet place it seems. It was uplifting to see all the people, laborers, farmers, business men coming in and greeting each other with backslapping and hugs. It seems like a very egalitarian place and Alpine likewise a friendly open city.

I would not recommend this place to an outsider. The food isnot that good and I think it is busy because it is the place to meet and greet.

“service the worst”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 28, 2012

Attitude of the wait staff is deplorable. They wait on friends and who they know and ignore others. Food takes very long to arrive and if you request something that is not automatically served, they frown. Had breakfast a couple of times, just okay. Ordered Mexican food for lunch and when I asked for chips and salsa, it took forever to get them, (not served as an appetizer) and my meal was nearly over.

“Good cafe food”

Reasonably priced and quick--this isn't fine dining, but it's not meant to be. Perfect for a breakfast with the locals

“Excellent food and atmoshphere!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 30, 2012

I had been told this was a Mexican restaraunt, but found a lot more than just Mexican on the menu. Hamburger steak was excellent, home-made french fries ... attentive, but busy!, waitress.
One of the better "short order" places I've seen in a long time!
