Description: The Midpoint Cafe and Gift Shop is an old cafe style restaurant on Historic Route 66, located at the "Midpoint" between Chicago and LA. New Owner, Dennis Purschwitz, purchased the cafe in March 2012. We cater to locals and those touring Route 66, with numerous international travelers visiting. In 2015 (between April 1 and end of October), we had guests from 80 countries visit the Midpoint Cafe and Gift Shop. We are within sight of I-40, just off of Exit 22 on RT 66. Very nice gift shop, specializing in a large selection of Midpoint and RT 66 souvenirs. Basic American grill for lunch. We are no longer serving breakfast but ware offering limited selection of bake goods for our guests. Specializing in homemade desserts including our world famous "Midpoint Ugly" pies (pies sold by the slice; we do not offer full pies for sale) all made on the premises. Our normal business hours are open 7 days per week, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., with meals (grill) ceasing at 3:00 p.m. We start our lunch menu (grill) at 10 a.m. Please remember that we are in the Central Time Zone, so if traveling east from New Mexico, you lose 1 hour!! Call ahead for tour reservations or to confirm hours of operation.

I thought my experience driving Route 66 would be complete from the nostalgia and history of the road itself, but of course, no true Route 66 experience would be complete without making some notable stops along the way. One can say, it's "necessary" to note such landmarks as Cadillac Ranch (Amarillo,TX), The Malt Shop (Albuquerque,NM), Cyrus Avery Bridge (Tulsa,OK), or the iconic scenery of Selegman and Winslow, AZ, but one other stop one must mark on their map is the Ugly Crust Pie-Midpoint Cafe, in Adrian, Texas. Not only is this the true "midpoint" of the "Mother-road" drive, but it makes your travel through there even more memorable. Being from the South, we know our pies, and where the best of the best bakeries are--THIS IS IT! Although the cafe itself is very quaint, serving up the traditional 50s-style hamburger "hop" notables, and contains a few pieces of memorabilia you can take with you, it really makes it's "mark" with pies like no other! It is difficult to pick a favorite, as you will find, they are all top-notch. My recommendation, have each person in your group pick a different pie, then have a round-table feast of epicurean delight. This stop will definitely keep you reminiscing for years to come!

Thanks for the kind words about the cafe and especially our pies. Nothing fancy, we just try for good eatings; from our pies to our burgers. We appreciate your business and I want to personally thank for taking the time to review our cafe on TripAdvisor. We are definitely striving for an very good rating. Stop by and see us again.

The burgers were good and we had to stop. If you know route 66 then you know why?
The new owner was very nice and all the staff very friendly. Very clean and they have a cute gift shop.

We travelled Route 66 in July 2012 and had always planned to stop at the Midpoint Cafe. We were not disappointed, we received a very warm welcome and had some great food. Spotlessly clean and very enjoyable.
We were lucky enough to meet Dennis, what a lovely chap and so enthusiastic. Midpoint was One of the highlights for our trip!

A big thank you from England.

Good food, low price, new owners still getting the hang of it all. Service is a little slow. Stop in and grab a bite when taking that famous photo of the Route 66 midpoint sign! You deserve it!

Due to a "series of unfortunate events," we stumbled across the diner in our hour of need. The grill at the diner was closed, but because of a blown tire on our large moving van, we were stranded in the area. Dennis welcomed us in, and served some delicious sweet tea. We had the chance to look around the diner and gift shop, it was all clean and attractive. Prices seemed fair, and it was a lot of fun to see all the Route 66 memorabilia. Dennis was generous enough to offer to take our family photo, and put the kids to work to help pass the time. Our blown tire could have ruined our entire move, but instead it became a positively memorable experience.
