There was both the history of aviation with historic displays plus interactive things for young children. The docents at the museum are well informed and go out of their way to answer any question.

What really made this collection standout was the high quality of the restorations, including the vintage automobiles that were sprinkled amongst the planes. The place was also absolutely spotless and displays were well put together with plenty of information. The big hit for us was the B-25 that was the focus of the first hanger after you enter the facility. We were told that it was the only B-25 that has been restored to its original condition, including the mural that was repainted on the side by the same person who painted it in the 1940s (and who is now deceased). The staff were more than willing to answer any questions you have and many of the planes are available to rent for a "warbird ride". An experienced pilot will take you for a 30 minute ride for a price ranging from about $300 for an AT-6 Texan to about $2000 for a ride in a P-51 mustang. My kids really enjoyed the place but I did get asked repeatedly if they could actually go inside one of the planes, but when I asked, they said they don't have one available to look at the inside of, other than there was an old, not yet restored, Vietnam era helicopter on the tarmac that was open, but it was already so hot by the time we came to that point, you couldn't actually touch the metal. For a more "hands on", kid oriented aircraft museum, there is also the Frontiers of Flight Museum at Dallas Love Field. Overall though, an excellent place to visit in the Dallas area. Definitely will be returning.

all types of military aircraft (mostly in hangars) and also several outside (on tarmac).
Clean facilities, relevant artwork in building at museum entrance, indoor areas were well lit, allowing comfortable viewing and study of the nicely displayed warplanes and choppers.
Most are fully restored aircraft, one hangar had some that were being repaired/restored.
Some are acturally flown on occasion, and some offer tickets to ride on them.
We enjoyed spending about 3 hours going thru all of their hangars & outdoor exhibits.
Admission includes the shuttle ride that takes visitors over to the repair/restoration hangar.

A good learning place. The most questions that I heard were from a 4 1/2 year old boy, he was really asking good questions and getting a great education. Wonderful museum.

Aviation must see. A nice museum with well informed staff. Only disappointment was some of the planes were out on tour. Planes in residence were well maintained and well displayed. A great afternoon trip to teach the kids the history they don't learn in school anymore.
