“Very impressive”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 31, 2013

I have never been to a museum that was as high-tech and up to date as this one. The museum featured interactive hologram videos of historical characters, a 360 degree video with great special effects, movable cylinders with information on them, and lots of great images and sets. This gave the museum wonderful visual appeal--you felt you had entered a new world, instead of being overwhelmed by how much information you were supposed to read, as sometimes happens in older museums.

I read almost all the information in the museum and watched both videos. Altogether, this took me two hours. I came away impressed with how difficult frontier life had been, and with greater understanding of the struggles between "cowboys and Indians" than I had in the past. I also will remember many of the vivid stories of individual frontiersmen and women that I watched in the museum.

Even members of my family who hadn't been all that interested in going to Frontier Texas said that the experience was really enjoyable for them. I would highly recommend it!

“Honest Injun' a Great Intro to TX Forts Trail”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 27, 2013

This multi-media museum is something you would expect in a far larger city. You meet people who were actually there in the form of holograms. They tell their own stories far better than any other form of media. If you are particularly interested in knowing more about them, there are several stories from each one which you can pick and choose to learn about. You meet an Indian warrior, Cynthia Ann Parker, Britt Johnson ex-slave, George Reynolds rancher, a buffalo hunter, an early explorer, a pioneer woman who outlived four husbands- all were real people. It's well researched and expansive. You can spend as little as an hour or all day learning from them, the films, the artifacts, the interactive exhibits, or just eavesdropping on the (wanna be) gunslingers at the local saloon. If you want a better understanding of how the west was really won- this is a must see.

“Interesting, historical experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 23, 2013

An absolute must! Anyone interested in the history of the indians, cowboys and buffalo hunters or "How the west was won" has to visit. It is housed in the visitors bureau and works through history of 1700s to early 1900s about Indian traditions and how the the arrival of white men affected the Indian way of life. It also explains how different Indian tribes lived together - or not! An amazing place.
