We stopped here on our way back home from vacation during spring break and spent over an hour exploring the site. First of all, in case you don't know, it is free of charge to check this place out. It's really an awesome place and my kids loved it...my 9year old daughter grabbed a map and we followed the trails and read about each location along the way. It's a great place to stop and stretch your legs after a long car trip. Not to mention a way to sneak in a little learning activity for the kids (and the adults may learn a little something too!)

I must say that once we finally found this attraction, we enjoyed it. But, all the directions on the website as well as on the GPS were way off! Took us a while to find it. It is a totally self guided tour and there are not a lot of ruins still there so you do have to use some imagination as to what it might have looked like. But, if you are a military history buff you will enjoy it. It's also fairly small so it doesn't take too long to go through.

Historic ruins of a frontier fort. Great walking guide to the fort - free! Had what seemed to be fairly new restrooms.

Fort Phantom Hill was larger than I expected it to be with many stone structures still standing. Would like to see walking paths extended to all structures so as to not have to walk thru grassy areas.
