The museum is located in a former mansion and is filled with treasures. I could have spent all day here and so can you! From Fred Astaire to the Hope diamond to the Civil war...you can learn so much. Each floor is packed with well organized displays. Love the circus? Check out the top floor. FREE but please donate to support this wonderful museum.

The historical society has done a wonderful thing with preserving the history of Aiken, with fantastic exhibits. You will need a a few hours to explore all of the exhibits spread over two floors plus the basement. Check out the grounds as well. Enjoy!

I have been there but it was way before the date given it didn't give me a choice. My husband and I went there and they were ready to close and it was GREAT! Went with the children with home schooling and it was terrible. There was no walking through and seeing all that we was. It is not advertized well at all either but it is a cute little museum.

The Historical Museum has a wealth of information on the Aiken County area. Elliott Levy, curator, bubbles over with knowledge and enthusiasm. Plan to spend at least a couple hours touring the museum as there are many interesting rooms to explore. Docents are ready to tell you stories of the Winter Colony people who came from the north to enjoy the wonderful city of Aiken in the winter. People like the Vanderbilts, Dearings, Winston Churchill and Bing Crosby.
This museum is worth a look!
