“Hopeland gardens...beautiful and close to home”

Hopeland Gardens is close to old town Aiken and features some lovely ponds, gardens and old buildings. Walk yourself around the whole area and learn about some of the native trees and plants. There are ducks in the ponds with signs that help you identify them. While rather barren in the winter, the spring and summer showcase the place well. There are also occasional performances on the stage there and at Christmas there are lights to visit.

The gardens have a delightful, turtle-filled pond with a variety of waterfowl, and a wetlands area with an overlook fitted with a swing. The Christmas scene is wonderful - illuminations everywhere and decorated museums. Scent path for the visually impaired, handicap accessible. Adjacent to Hitchcock Woods, a 2000 ac urban park.

We originally visited the gardens to take pictures with the two painted horses located on it's grounds but ended up walking through the gardens and enjoying the beauty of it all. I wish we had brought a small picnic as there wasn't any place to buy drinks or snacks. Otherwise, PERFECT!

I've recently moved from Aiken, but visit often and love to see how things grow and change. The gardens are well kept and they keep growing and changing. Only visited once for the Christmas Lights and being bused because of lack of parking is not so bad. We visited during the day to take pictures and just take in the view. Beautiful Oaks and history of how the Gardens were established. Great location right in the downtown makes it a easy find, and they are open until dusk. If you want to get some great shots of family, friends or pets. this is a great place to visit. Huge Koi fish, with ducks too. Spring and Summer flowers are awesome along with the summer concerts they provide. Check it out! it's worth stopping :) and you will be glad you did. Just a pure charm to find in a beautiful southern town.

This is a beautiful garden that was once part of a wealthy residence. There are a child's "playhouse," horse museum, outdoor theater, fountains, and ponds on the property. A beautiful and relaxing place to visit!
