Warm, friendly, great classy Irish Pub atmosphere with a nicer dining area. We go here about once a week! I love the new windows that they installed that open up when the weather is nice. There are two coveted booths by the windows that you always hope to get, but sitting at the 10-12 tables is nice too.
You can also sit closer to the bar on high tables, if you want that " in the bar but not at it feel"

This place draws a wide variety of people, from older folks out for a nice meal, families (sometimes kids, even babies are there). Younger types drinking (never out of control).

Best of all they have TV's , but don't put the sound on, and theyare not in your face everywhere. (We don't like TV's when we are dining, but understand, this is a Pub). Especially if you sit near the window- no TV's in view!)

The Food is excellent without being upidy. We often get the fish/salmon or other really good specials. There prices are better than some other places in the area, and we like the atmosphere the best.

Great Beer selection- rotating taps.

This Irish pub in a cool old building, has been serving folks on the Main Line for 70 plus years. Recently, there was a changing of the guard in ownership, and although this is often an issue, the new owners, led by Phil and his crew, has done a perfect job of keeping the old, and adding their own enhancements.

First, the bar. Beautiful, comfortable and first rate. Complete set of Irish taps, plus 8 or 10 more, some seasonal, some specialty. Lots of TVs for the sports enthusiast to catch a local game (that would be me!). Great, easy going crowd, not too young, not at all rowdy.

That would be plenty enough reason to visit, but the secret here is a tiny, but first rate kitchen. They have an excellent menu -- pasta, prime rib, wings, sandwiches, etc. which are hearty and high quality, and reasonable prices. But two items stand out. First, they have flat out the best burger in town, and I have eaten them all over. Perfect char grill, great bun, interesting toppings. And second, Kim's homemade desserts. Never frozen, they don't come in a box like many others. Her cheesecakes in particular are wonderful.

So come by and give it a try. And wave to me at one of the high tops!

I've eaten at McCloskey's a few times and have never been disappointed. Portions are nice, food is good, service is attentive. It can get noisy on a weekend night, so be prepared.
I never order fish in a place I'm skeptical about, but I ordered it last night and was not disappointed. It was striped bass with a tomato, caper lemon sauce that I have to say was excellent. My husband's prime rib was large and delicious. The other entree at the table was the filet mignon, which my friends declare is always very good. Sides of baked potato and mixed veggies (fresh, not frozen, and not overcooked!) were also good. The menu has something for everyone from great apps, to burgers, meatloaf, pastas, etc. Entree prices are in the high teens to low 20's, but well priced for the size of the portions.
They do take reservations, and parking is very easy. If you are not looking to drive too far in the Main Line, make this one of your future stops. It's good food.

There is nothing really wrong with McCloskey's. It is a fairly average local tavern with good service and a decent bar. The bar food is worth a trip, but not continuous trips. The bartenders are knowledgable and friendly enough. The dining area is a bit crowded.
