“Best Pizza in PA for years...”

Seriously! This is the original "Police Station" pizza. Cheese on the bottom, extra sauce on the top, what can you say. After moving away, we still have this shipped once a year. Nothing beats it.

“Not so special”
Reviewed November 19, 2013

After having heard rave reviews of the Police Station (Pizza House), we decided to try it for a family dinner. As you will note from the many other reviews, this place is an experience. A very large crowd stands milling around in front of the counter, and one of the two guys "watching" the customers will suddenly point to you or some other new customer and ask how many pieces you want. It seems disorganized, and they don't write anything down, but they keep excellent track of who ordered what. They churn out pizzas as fast as they can, and the whole thing is a bit of an event. The pizza, on the other hand, was a bit better than average, but nothing special. It is a deep-dish pizza and they put the toppings on after it is cooked plain. The sauce lacked any special oomph to make this as exceptional as the other reviews and people had built it up to be. Am I sorry I went, no. Would I be likely to go back, sadly also no.

“Dinner and a Show!”
Reviewed February 8, 2013

There are two kinds of people in this world. Those that recognize The Pizza House (Police Station Pizza) as one of the best (if not THE best) pizza places on the planet- and those who are wrong.

This unique pizza place is a show unto itself. You walk into the small ordering area- sometimes into a crowd eight deep before the counter on a busy night. Within seconds, the counterman points across the crowd, makes eye contact, and asks, "How many?!"

You shout your order back over the crowd, "Half tray! Mushroom, extra cheese melted!"

Without ever writing down a single order, every order is correctly remembered and correctly queued. You watch the whole manic process of making pizza for often 20+ customers take place with a precise and dizzying choreography between the guys behind the counter - none of whom seem to ever stop moving. Within minutes, you are walking out (no seating) with your fresh made-to-order pizza.

The crust is thick- yet incredibly light and crunchy. Great sauce! And they don't skimp on the toppings. Like most folks, I know my pizza will never make it home intact. The tradition (I've been coming here for 40+ years!) is to scarf it down in your parked car while the crust is still at "maximum crunch."

So bring cash, a few extra towels from home, and please know what you want to order when you walk in the door. But if you need a moment (and please do be quick,) the prices and options are posted on a hand-made sign on the wall. I think the last sign was there for at least a decade or two before there was ever any price increase. Even with the "new" sign - the one from the last dozen years or so- Pizza House pizza prices are more than reasonable.

So splurge and order a whole tray! (24 pieces)

After all, only about half of those will ever make it home.

“Wasn't Blown Away...”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

I realize the Pizza House aka "Police Station Pizza" is local favorite and maybe it's just one of those things that you love when you grow up eating it but personally I'm not feeling this pizza. The place was packed on a Friday night and the guys behind the counter seemed to know almost everyone on a first name basis so that's always a good sign. Didn't take too long to place our order and the prices were very reasonable & posted on the wall. You order by the slice, all pizza is Sicilian squares, nice crunch but airy-almost like thick toast. Decent sauce & generous toppings, lots of locals ordered theirs with the toppings added after baking-not a fan of a pile of unmelted shredded cheese on my pizza but to each his own. I would give it another try as this place has so many loyal followers but overall it was a bit of a disappointment.

“Best "Italian style" pizza. People stand outside their cars and eat it while it's still hot...that's how good it is!!”
Reviewed October 13, 2012 via mobile

This isn't the typical pizza but a thick crust almost deep dish pizza. Get it hot and eat a piece as you drive home!! Yum!!
