“If you can't stand the noise, don't order from the kitchen!”
Reviewed October 7, 2012

I have only dined at Trax on Weekend evenings during peak dining hours, so your experience may be different. While the food has always been delicious, the combination of building accoustics and close placement of tables results in an uncomfortably high level of noise. This may be a tribute to the quality of food and atmosphere - every one seemed to be enjoying themselves. If you don't mind a noisy atmosphere, you should definitely try Trax. The ambience is otherwise charming (train noise cannot be heard inside).
The menu is small but well planned - something for every one. The specials are always interesting.

“Excellent service, but food just okay.”

Nifty BYOB in old train station. It’s small with a cozy atmosphere when not completely full as was the case when we visited. The menu selection was terrific, but was sadly disappointed in the quality of the food. Soup was bland and main course of duck while tasty had an overly sweet sauce. Appetizer of balsamic roasted brussel sprouts were under cooked and very tough. Overall, pricey menu that didn’t pay off.
I think it could be fairly noisy on a crowded evening and the lighting is very dim. On a high note, our waiter Daniel was excellent. He was the only waiter that evening and did wonderful job of managing all the tables. Music on Thursday night by acoustic guitarist Michael Del Conte was very enjoyable!

“Excellent Food”
Reviewed August 21, 2012

We enjoyed Trax Restaurant, which is located in the suburban Philadelphia town of Ambler, during the semi-annual Ambler Restaurant Week. The prix-fix menu had a wide variety of dishes for every palate, and the restaurant is BYOB. Oh, and it's located in the quaint town of Ambler.

Trax is a very small restaurant, so reservations are definitely recommended. The building used to be the town's train station, and the trains still run behind the restaurant. There is indoor and outdoor covered seating.

We thoroughly enjoyed every item we ordered! The tomato soup was perfect, as was the tomato mozzarella salad as starters. The statler chicken and penne pasta were both cooked perfectly. The chicken had nice crispy skin and the chicken was moist. The sauce on the pasta was succulent and delicious.

For dessert, we ordered the chocolate mousse, which was a very good chocolate mousse, as well as the peach cobbler, which was huge, but delicious! The peaches were fresh and the cobbler was crunchy and crispy, even after sitting in the peaches as we ate around the cobbler.

Our waitress was also very helpful and friendly, even as the restaurant started to get busy. We highly recommend making the trip out to Ambler and giving Trax Restaurant a try!

“Wish we hadn't waited so long to go!”
Reviewed August 7, 2012

My husband and I went to Trax for the first time two weeks ago for Restaurant week deciding that it would be a good time to try something new. We were not disappointed! It is BYOB and there were at least 6-8 different choices for appetizer and entree and 4 for dessert for a price fixe. We enjoyed fennel salad and gaspacho. My husband had steak with mashed potatoes and veggies and I had lobster and crab over fettucini. Both were excellent. The warm peach crisp and pound cake with fruit compote both a la mode were delicious. We will definitely be back. Everyone around us was enjoying their meals too. We will be back soon.
