“This full blooded Italian loves the Allegro.”
Reviewed May 21, 2010

My husband and I love the Allegro! You enter the restaurant through the bar/lounge. It's very cozy. Stacy, the bartender, is a sweetheart. She makes everyone feel welcome. The Owners (husband and wife team) are really nice too. They always make an effort to say hello. You receive complimentary veal balls, that are out of this world - delicious! The wedding soup is excellent. If you are tired of eating at a chain restaurant, and you would like a good home cooked Italian meal, go to the Allegro. I grew up in a full blooded Italian family and when I go to the Allegro, the atmosphere reminds me of home. It's awesome!

“Our family had a wonderful dinner!”
Reviewed November 7, 2008

The Allegro is a nice traditional Italian restuarant. Prices and menu are in line whith what one would expect from an old school fancy but not "trendy" establishment. If you're here to try the latest in haute cuisine, forget it. Nobody's loosing weight by eating here! Service for my family of four was excellent. We ordered the traditional dinner for 4 which was wonderful. Our waitress ( not a trendy "server") bought out several courses over our stay, none of which we could finish, all of them delicious. If in Altoona and you're looking for a break from chain restuarants, you would be wise to enjoy a repast at the Allegro, right near the famous Horseshoe Curve.
