“Very good sushi and noodles for a non-Big City establishment”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 29, 2013

Yamato's has the best sushi, Udon noodles, and Miso soup in Altoona. The selection is quite good, as is the saki and the attentive service. It's a small and nondescript restaurant at a busy intersection--and wouldn't seem out of place as a setting in a Hong Kong gangster film directed by John Woo--but I've eaten here dozens of times and only gotten a bad meal once, which I chalk up to just an anomaly. (I like this place so much that it was a devastating experience. Fortunately, I went back soon thereafter, and the food was back to the normal high standard. All was right with the world!) I've eaten at most of the Altoona boulevard places and keep coming back here because it's very, very good.

“A nice place to eat”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 5, 2013

This restaurant has nice service and the food is really good. They are one of the few asian restaurants that actually use fresh ingredients and they don't just serve you frozen or old food.

“Good Variety with Reasonable Prices”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 12, 2012

Sushi is made on demand. Good variety available.
The restaurant can accommodate groups and appeals to students and those seeking value for their dollar.
Portions are very generous and well prepared.
Selections primarily sushi and Chineese.

“Great food!”

Loved it! The food was great and reasonably priced. The menu was quite a variety. When we're back in Altoona, we'll definitely eat here again.
