No pretenses here. They make and sell really good hot dogs. I ate two of the traditional with onions and chili sauce. Have a rootbeer from the old barrel too.

“"The absolute best, a must stop"”
Reviewed May 8, 2013

Texas hot dogs in Altoona has been around since 1918. There are 2 locations, one downtown at 1122 12th Ave and the second location at 101 58th Street. The downtown location is only a block away from the original site. My father remembers going on the train to eat these with his father. The sauce coupled with the hot mustard and finely diced onions make this hot dog melt in your mouth. Whenever I am in Altoona visiting my Mom these are a must for me and my family. They now sell tubs of sauce to take home and make your own. The tubs make 16 dogs and costs $7.50. I have several in my freezer. They also serve macaroni and cheese smothered with the sauce on top. So, have 2 with everything, fries and a soda and have the best meal ever. Highly Recommended.........

“Out and About”
Reviewed March 6, 2013

If you are a connoisseur of hotdogs, this is the place to visit. Not much to look at, they have been selling their own style of hotdog flavoring for over 60 years. While I would not rank among the hotdog shops of Cony Island, grabbing a dog here can be a tasty experience.

Whether you go early or late, the staff is always friendly and the food is always good. Try the chili or the macaroni dish.
