My family and I stayed overnight at this hotel on our way to our final vacation destination. I booked it on Priceline, so the price was excellent for the room that we got. Our room was very clean, the staff was very friendly, and everything was comfortable. They have a nice large flat screen T.V. in the room that my son was able to hook his video game up to. They also serve a very nice buffet breakfast for less than $8 with an omelet station, a do it yourself Belgian Waffle Station and other standard breakfast items. I absolutely recommend eating here if you’ve got to get back on the road early. It’ll save you time and is probably much tastier than a lot of what you will find on the main road to get to the place.

My sister and I stayed at the Marriott to do some Christmas shopping in Altoona. We arrived at 11:00 am and were given our room immediately even though check in isn't until 3:00. The rooms are spacious with microwave, mini-fridge, and separate sink/mirror area. We were planning to go out to dinner and realized that our draped didn't close, so we stopped at the front desk and spoke to Justin. He gave us a short cut to the restaurant (thank you) and said he would attend to the drapes. Upon our return Justin said he got them to close almost all the way, and he gave us free breakfast passes "for our trouble". These were worth $8.95 each! The lobby, pool, bar, and eating area were all clean and well appointed. I think this hotel is a great place for the price. (best in Altoona)

Had a pleasant stay overall at the Courtyard by Marriott in Altoona, PA . Was there in November '07 on business. The hotel is located on top of a hill, and is connected to a large, modern-looking convention center. The convention center was not occupied during my stay, therefore the area was D-E-A-D! A few chain restaurants nearby, Wal-mart, Target, but nothing too exciting.

I was pleasantly surprised upon entering the lobby - it's got a nice, homey feeling to it and the front desk staff was friendly and check-in was a breeze. The rooms were very clean, towels were abundant and the bed was nice and firm. Only drawback was the clogged drains in both the sink and tub.

The gym was small with outdated treadmills and a blaring TV that I could not turn off. The buffet breakfast was not free, however not a bad deal at $5.95/person (waffles, eggs, bacon, sausage, breads, muffins, made-to-order omlettes, etc - though all a bit on the greasy side). However, these aren't complaints as merely just observations. This was a very nice hotel in general.

The only real complaint here is the terrible room service deal they have with the nearby restaurants. Because Courtyard only offers breakfast, they've struck a deal with TGI Fridays, Outback and a few other places to do delivery - there's even a one-touch button on the phones for ease of ordering. However, what was originally promised to take 15-20 minutes (from TGI Fridays), took over an hour for the food to arrive. When it finally did, the hot foods were ice cold and no utensils/napkins were provided. The next day, upon examing the bill, there were incorrect charges for the food and surprisingly, the phone call to TGI Fridays was also a charge! Unbelievable. So, moral of the story...avoid the so-called "Room Service" at all costs and if you have a car, venture out and find a nearby restaurant instead!

The hotel sits fairly high up and was generally clean. The internet service worked well and the staff was friendly. There was some noise in our room from adjoining rooms (TV noise, morning wake-up call) which was not convenient. Overall, the property was well maintained.

My three colleagues and I stayed here one night on a business trip and this place was fine although nothing extraordinary. Although we arrived late, we got the exactly rooms we asked for. The comfortable bed, hi-speed Internet, pool/gym and laundry were all very well-done - and in our case much needed - touches. I was a little surprised that breakfast was not included in the price; most family/business-type hotels usually offer a free continental breakfast or at least coffee. So unless we wanted to get in a car and explore at 6 AM, we had no other options.

Public areas could use more attention; there was dirt or dust in the gym and laundry areas. All in all, satisfactory stay.

Staying at Marriott properties, you come to expect the consistantly excellent service they always seem to provide.
But sometimes it even goes beyond that, and that's why I'm writing this review.
This Altoona property is absolutely the best Courtyard I've ever had the pleasure of staying in.
Parking, view, location, cleanliness - all 100%.
But I, like others I'm sure, gauge a hotel by the first stop - at check-in.
I've stayed here many time over the years (and stay at Marriott properties at least 70 times a year), and have never had less than an enjoyable experience from check-in to check-out at this Courtyard.
The owner of this hotel is a lucky guy... He has an extremely polite, well informed, helpful, and thoroughly professional staff working for him.
And, speaking personally, this type of service will bring me back many, many times.
If you stay anywhere else in Altoona, you lose.
Treat yourself to a night at this property. (And be sure to grab a couple of those homemade cookies at the front desk!)

Stayed at the courtyard on May 16. Excellent hotel next to blair county convention center. Very clean, with pool , hot tub and gym. Many restauarants near hotel. Visited horseshoe curve. Great historic site. The staff is very pleasant. You can tell that not too many people stay here.
