Lets just say that the TV advertisements are completely misleading on this joint.
Barb and I went there for their so called Famous Crab Cakes. There was absolutely no crab meat or flavor in that pitiful lump of cake. It was more to the taste of Long John Silver's Hush Puppies, and even then, the Hush Puppies would have beaten them out in a taste test.
I am totally surprised that they are still in business.
We love crab cakes, and there are 2 places that are #1 and #2 in the Lehigh Valley.
Sunrise Diner's Broiled Maryland style Crab Cakes makes it #1, with the salad/soup bar that goes with it.
Hamilton Diner's crab cakes comes in at #2. The salad bar needs some focus, but they both were worth the price. Both come in at about $11 each.
The Hamilton Diner special was for a crab cake, stuffed mushroom, and a stuffed shrimp. What I ended up with was a baseball sized crab cake, a baseball sized crab cake on top of a mushroom, and a baseball sized crab cake on top of a shrimp. Both diners are worth the trip.
PJ's at the Walbert is a place for those who do not mind throwing away their money. But, they do get their food locally. That reminds me, I need to get some cans of Alpo for my dog, Renaldo.
