I recently revisited this classic local eatery and found the service and food to remain as great as I remembered. I have been going to this place for over 30 years and it's still a great place to go with family. The food is well portioned and exceptional. Even the Ranch dressing we learned was home made. I'm especially fond of the spaghetti sauce, whether on pasta or eggplant. And of course, you can't turn down their cheese steaks. The location on Lehigh Street also makes it easy to get to off Route 78. Do plan on going early (like 5) on weekends.

The breakfasts are very good. The lunches and dinner don't impress me but they do a very good regular business. Probably cuz I'm from Jersey and have different tastes.

At one point in time the Brass Rail was the place to eat. The cheese steaks were large, stuffed full of great beef. Today though it is heading downhill rapidly with rolls barely covered with meat, hard to find even a small bit of cheese, and failing in taste. Sometimes I believe a restaurant simply needs to recreate itself inside and out; and this one is long past time for doing so.

Many years ago this was probably the only place in the Lehigh Valley for cheesesteaks but no more. Threadbare carpet, dingy and disorganized is the word. Its former popularity has waned and it seems to be populated by seniors clinging to the past or a reasonably priced meal. It has definately seen its prime and you can get better fries and a birch beer elsewhere. In general, the waitstaff is as old as the place itself. Skip this one and you will have no regrets.
