I love the mushroom soup for starters and the chef's specials keep me guessing but are always pleasing to my palate. My wife can't stop talking about the salmon and she gets there as often as she can for lunch to get her favorite dish.

The restaurant may be small, but the menu is mighty and has a variation of Thai inspired dishes, as well as seafood and American cuisine. If the waiters aren't too rushed they are very helpful at discussing the dinner choices.

This has been an Allentown favorite for many years, but it isn't well known since not many people go downtown for dinner. THEIR LOSS!

There is parking in the back of the restaurant if you go down the alley between Linden and Hamilton off of 9th Street.

The best menu selection is experienced throughout the year by avoiding the holidays. They still have great food for holiday events, but it is typically a more limited menu due to the crowds and turning over tables.

Give them a call and make your reservations, your taste buds will thank you.

The Bay Leaf is aptly described in other reviews as a 'hidden gem' and 'a thirty year favorite'. While my family wants to keep the Bay Leaf as clandestine as possible, I must publicly appreciate the value of this restaurant. The appetizer section offers a wide variety of delicious choices asian-inspired as well as local favorites. The tequila salmon was superb, the curry chicken was authentic, but the best by far were the shrimp and (crab or lobster) ravioli and the portabella mushroom soup. The entrees were too good for words to explain with the sea bass being perfectly cooked, and the broth was so tasty I had to use a spoon to finish every last drop. The creme brulee is one of the best around and was a perfect end to a flawless night of dining. The staff is very friendly, and would go out of their way to make sure we had a great experience. For those who say that it is pricey, they have a case it is not for everyday budgets. But with the food being this awesome, who can say it's not worth it?

Sorry, but I'm just not seeing it. The food is a lot of fried items, none if it is really all that interesting and many of the dishes taste the same to me. Some are a little spicier than others. Prices are reasonable, but if this is one of the best places in Allentown, I wouldn't be choosing this city as a dining destination.

Been here on several occasions and always had delectable dinners. The decor fits the food and creates great ambiance.

Went here to celebrate our 6 month anniversary. The food was good - american/asian fushion. The appetizer came out quickly, but our entrees seemed to take quite awhile. Pricey.
