“Stay often, undergoing renovations”
Reviewed May 28, 2013

Nice hotel with very comfortable beds! We stay often since near a relative in nursing home. Recently undergoing lobby renovations, so curious to see updates. Sometimes offer breakfast coupons, but always offer coffee and fruit in lobby, plus fresh cookies at checki-n. Water bottles for HHonors members. Rooms facing front are quieter, but overall, quiet nice stays and friendly staff.

I typically give hotels and restaurants the benefit of the doubt because things happen but I can't honestly do that for this hotel. The staff was courteous and professional at check-in. The rooms are in good condition. I was prepared to give an avg to good rating with the caveat that its a smaller town Garden Inn. Given that guest could manage their expectations. However this hotel is failing to provide the basic service of television. For the last two hours the picture has been pixilated at best. More often than not it says no signal. Now having been a satellite subscriber I would diagnosis this as weather related but the weather is perfect. Every hotel at a minimum is expected to have watchable tv. This one hasn't provided that for me today.

Having embraced new technology, I figure no problem, I can use WI-FI and my iPad (truth is I do that more often than turning on the tv during the last 6 hotel stays). But maintaining a WIFI connection is a problem. When I called the front deck they said they are sorry. I can call a number in the room and that they didn't have any other guests complain. At 11pm I'm not interested in having someone come up or to call technical support simply to have a tv program to fall to sleep on. I can't be the only frequent traveler that uses familiar tv programs or a movie as white noise to fall asleep and address the unfamiliar sounds of sleeping in a new location.
No one else has had an issue is not an acceptable answer. I get that things happen but road-warriors need to have the best conditions to help take the sting out of travel. I am so disappointed in this experience.

A few other small things that might help inform your choice of hotel is the older A/C. While there is a wall thermostat, the room has a more window-unit like A/C. So the main portion of the room is comfortable but the bathroom is pretty warm. Unfortunately I can't recommend this hotel.

First I would like to thank you for your feedback on Trip Advisor. It is our guests feedback that allow us to see things from their perspective. So that we may better our selves to further enhance our guests experience at our hotel. I do understand the frustration of just wanting to put a movie on and relax after a long day, hassle free and not being able to. So I do want to apologize for this occurring. I will look into all possibilities to ensure this is taken care of.
Pixilation on a TV sometimes can mean a bad card, and has to be replaced. The WIFI issue has two possibilities. It can either be a widespread issue with every guest. Or it is the device trying to accept our network. In this case, this is where the 24/7 tech support number in our guest rooms come in. This is not an insult to your intelligence or to disrupt your comfort. In some cases the device may need to be configured to accept our network.
Not wanting to have to do this at 11 pm after a long day, again I understand and can agree. We should've been more detailed as to what and why, when explaining the possibilities of your issues as well as solutions. Which is why I held a meeting with my front desk staff immediately after reading your concerns. To ensure we are going above just, "I'm sorry." We would like to make this right, and hope you will give us another chance to exceed your expectations. Please feel free to call us directly and speak with me. Thank you in advance for your time, and understanding.

Check in was efficient. There.were chocolate chip cookies and fruit on offer. We were offered beverages from the pantry, a step up from the usual warm water bottles in the room. Our room was typical HGI and faced truck parking. The hotel was transitioning from the Neutrogena products to the new ones, a step in the wrong direction. Breakfast was a hybrid -- waitress service for the hot items and buffet for breads , yogurt fruit. This worked well -- the cooked foods were hot and tasty and service was excellent. Our waitress offered a choice of Cholula or Tabasco to liven up the hash.
The only con was access, coming from 22 it seemed you have to make a u-turn and the entrance is easy to miss.
The generous touches distinguish this property.

This hotel is located in a great location near many decent places to eat. They serve a very nice breakfast. Staff is alway very friendly and professional. It does get busy on weekend mornings. We visit there many times and have learned to stay in an odd number room which are the rooms that face the front of the hotel. The hotel backs up to a truck depot and the 2 times we were assigned to a back of the hotel room, the noise from the truck depot can be noisey enough to keep you up in the middle of the night. So problem solved with a front hotel room. We will continue to stay here.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the front of the hotel (even numbered rooms. The back rooms are noisier due to...

I am very pleased that you love your stay with us. Thanks you for choosing the Hilton Garden Inn Allentown-Bethlehem Airport. I apologize that you had some difficulty sleeping when you here, we are aware of the noise from the trucking company and we have been in talks with them to try to reduce the level of noise.

Consider this your one and only hotel if you're staying in Allentown. Excellent facilities plus the added bonus of several good restaurants and a shopping centre all within walking distance. This deserves a high rating from all that stay.

This is our favorite place to stay when we need to grab an early flight or get in late from a nightime flight. We have stayed here twice now. Loved the fact that the cost was so reasonable for a clean and comfortable stay. Nice to have just a 5 minute ride to the airport! Also...loved the Red Robin that is next to the hotel..an added plus not to have to drive anywhere looking for a place to eat when you are tired from traveling. We will definitely use this hotel the next time we are traveling, and have since recommended it to family.

It is a nice hotel - I stay there when in the area if there is availability. If not there is equally nice Hampton Inn in Allentown - just farther away from everything. The staff are very nice and accommodating. Always professional. The hotel it self is always very clean. I have stayed there several times and it is always dependable.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
