“This was the most amazing stay I've ever experienced.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 24, 2014

The staff was beyond accomodating. Their attitude was informal, yet professional. It was like we were family visiting. They were friendly and curteous. Breakfast was brought out promptly and HOT. There were fresh flowers on every plate and the food tasted like a true chef prepared it. Coffee, tea, water, hot chocolate, were all available any time of day. They had snacks out all day as well.

Our room was well-decorated and cozy. We stayed in the Amber. Everything was antique yet somehow modernized. The king size canopy bed was comfortable and warm. The jacuzzi tub was big enough for 2 and made for a very relaxing night. The shower was one with massage capabilities that added to the getaway theme.

Overall, the experience was wonderful. It was comfortable enough to feel at home, yet elegant enough to feel like a vacation. We will definitely be staying there again.

Melanie, It was such a wonderful experience chatting with you and your husband during your stay with us! We loved your enthusiasm for the atmosphere and breakfasts and hope that we can delight you again in the future! The opulent Amber Room is one of our favorites as well! Thank you for being such lovely guests and since Bethlehem isn't too far away from Adamstown, we know that we will become familiar faces for you both! Well wishes to you!

We enjoyed our stay in the Firefly cottage which is down the street from the Inn. It is a very cute antique home remodeled as an authentic reproduction of a home over 100 yrs old (my estimate). Although the house has many antiques throughout, it also has modern amenities such as microwave, stove, dishwasher (often rare in a rental), flat screen TV, and AC. Our stay was quiet even though the house is close to the road. The unfortunate downside is something that can not easily be changed: the neighbors. The other houses nearby (not owned by the innkeepers) were quite rundown and really bring down the quaint atmosphere that could exist. The Confederate flags on the neighbors' house need to go. Wasn't PA on the Union side anyways? If the cottages could be moved to a serene country setting, it would be quite the destination. There were restaurants and grocery stores nearby.

As happy as we are to hear that you enjoyed your vacation with us at the Firefly Cottage, we do want to profusely apologize for any offending decor that our neighbors may have displayed during your stay. We will do everything in our power to make sure that neither you and your family nor any future visitors will have to be exposed to anything borderline distasteful again. Adamstown is a small, kind-natured community and none of our residents would ever want to make anyone feel unwelcome. Here at the Adamstown Inns & Cottages, we love your feedback and the sooner we can help your stay to be magnificent, the better- please don't hesitate to bring anything to our attention as promptly as possible! We love that you appreciated all the extra amenities- it is always nice to have modern conveniences even on vacation! Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a thoughtful review and we can't wait to see you again in the future!

We just got back from the Amethyst Inn today and I HAD to write a review. We stayed 3 years ago for our babymoon and stayed in the Ruby Suite, the largest and more pricey room. This time, we actually stayed in the smallest room, the Topaz room and I was worried that it would be a let down from staying in the most luxurious room, but it was NOT! The room was smaller than the others, but it was wonderful! There were tube tvs when I came last time, but they now have flat screens. The room has anything you may need. The 2-person whirlpool was very relaxing. There were other people in the inn, but we rarely heard them. Breakfast was wonderful! I kept taking pictures. The owners are hilarious and friendly. The other guests were also friendly.

There are snacks upon arrival, snacks, coffee, and tea available all day and snacks when you leave. And did I mention the breakfast??? I have nothing at all bad to say about this place. I recommend this to anyone visiting the Adamstown area who wants the B&B experience. Peaceful and beautiful. We will certainly be back!

Room Tip: We've stayed in the largest suite (Ruby Suite) and the smallest room (Topaz Room) and I don'...

We are so pleased that not only did you choose us three years ago to pamper you for your Babymoon getaway, but that you came back to visit us for a weekend of well-deserved relaxation! We absolutely loved the beautiful pictures that you took and we encourage you to continue to commemorate your future stays here at the Amethyst Inn! It is wonderful to hear that you enjoyed both the Ruby and the Topaz rooms- we take pride in the spacious rooms, first-class amenities and gourmet breakfasts and are overjoyed to hear that we were able to provide such a wonderful experience for you! We wish you and your family the very best and look forward to seeing you again soon!

A truly wonderful experience. My wife and I visited for 3 nights for a long antiquing weekend. Tom, Wanda and their staff are great hosts and the Inn is beautiful. Delicious breakfasts in the mornings to get us started for the day. Will definitely be back.

My husband and I were married a year ago in June, and we never got a chance to go on a honeymoon. Actually, we are dairy farmers, and this was my first day off in over year and my husbands first day off in possibly over two years. So we looked around for someplace not too far away from home, but something special to get away for two days and celebrate our one year anniversary!! WE FOUND THE PERFECT PLACE!!!! This beautiful old house has been transformed into a perfect little bed and breakfast....we felt so special!!! our room was super cute with a whirlpool tub, a steam shower, and a personal balcony!! We got little gifts on our pillow every day, wonderful service, access to snacks, coffee, a fridge, and breakfast in the morning that left us wanting it for days and days after we left!!! the staff and owners were super friendly and SUPER accommodating.....i felt so at home:) Geez even the other guests were so nice to us!! as soon as we can get away again....we re gonna do it here!! THANK YOU ADAMSTOWN INN!!

Stayed as a couple earlier this Spring and have procrastinated on the review. The place is old and somewhat quirky ( scary, steep and narrow side laneway to an awkward, small parking lot, ridiculously narrow staircase to the rooms, side entry which channels coming and going guests through the dining room ) but somehow, despite the quirks they make it work. The rooms are clean and nicely appointed in an old style appropriate to the house. As with most older guest houses sounds carry through the floors and walls, but the town is quiet at night so sleeping was great once everyone settled down. We were fortunate that the other guests were considerate and quiet, save for the long, late whirlpool bath somewhere in the house . It seemed to go on and on ( don't know why B&B owners put these into older properties ). Those minor issues aside the Amethyst Inn ( which this B&B is actually called ) was reasonably priced and quite fine. The staff are welcoming and very good at their jobs. Breakfast was very good and service attentive. If you prefer a B&B experience over run of the mill motels this place is the only real choice in Adamstown, and a good choice all things considered.

Room Tip: Be forewarned of the narrow steep staircase up to the rooms which are all equally comfortable

We would like to thank you for such a detailed and thoughtful response! "Quirky" is certainly affectionately appropriate for our beloved Amethyst Inn! While we wholeheartedly agree that some of our inn's charms (steeper driveway, narrow staircase) may be off-putting for some guests with restrictions, we would also like to encourage any of our future guests to utilize our street parking and outdoor stairwell if you do not wish to park in our parking lot. Here at the Amethyst Inn, customer satisfaction is our main concern so if there is anything that we can do to improve your next stay, please don't hesitate to let us know! Thank you again for choosing us as your home away from home, and we look forward to having you stay with us again in the future!

We really enjoyed our stay here. Good location right in town and made it easy to get around. Staff was great and the food was wonderful. I am a quilter and they suggested a couple fabric store that were wonderful. The house does show it's age a little but it makes it more unique. The good box when we left was a nice added touch. If ever in the area again we will be staying a the Amethyst Inn
