“Ellen makes this place amazing!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 19, 2007

I have stayed at the Chanticleer Inn almost every time I vacation in Ashland and I have no problem calling the Chanticleer Inn my second home. My fondest memories of Ashland are waking up to Ellen's scrumptious breakfast and listening to Howie's stories; not to mention sipping coffee while taking in the amazing views of the mountains and the nature. This Inn is hands down "the best in town" and I would refer anyone to it.

Another appealing feature of the Inn is the readily available Wi-Fi access and the subcriptions the Inn has to the WSJ, NYTimes, etc. Please consult wth Howie if you ever need some clarification on current affairs, as he seems to have extensive knowledge on all the stories and excellent conversation skills; I think he wakes up early just to read every story around the world by the time Ellen has breakfast on the table.

On your way out, remember to grab a handful of cookies; just remember to leave some for me as I plan on being there as soon as I can! ;-)

We just returned from a wonderful trip to Ashland, Oregon, where we stayed at the the Chanticleer Inn, a bed and breakfast with delicious food and a welcoming, comfortable atmosphere. Our hosts, Ellen and Howie had a tremendous talent for making everyone feel at home. Their location is lovely and is within walking distance of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival theatres, as well as the many amenities the town has to offer. This was our first stay at the Chanticleer Inn, but it will not be our last.

A warm, friendly home-away-from-home. Owners Ellen and Howie made us feel comfortable and welcome right away. A wonderful place to relax, and a convenient walk to town and the theaters.

Highly recommended. Owner Ellen was my accomplice in a secret plan to woo my now-fiance with champagne and flowers. We managed to pull it off, and my future wife was completely surprised! Ellen took delivery of the flowers, chilled the champagne, and arranged it all in our room for us to discover upon our return. And the room and house were absolutely perfect. We stayed in the Aerie room, with a gorgeous king-size bed, and we won't soon forget it! If you're headed to Ashland, you can't do any better.

We visited the Chanticleer Inn for three nights and enjoyed each. Ellen, our inkeeper, was a delightful hostess. She offered excellent advice about local attractions, engaged guests in stimulating conversations over breakfast, and made sincere efforts to accommodate our needs. The Inn was elegantly furnished and cozy. Furthermore, its convenient location to shops, restaurants, and the theatre made traveling on foot easy. Upon our next visit to Ashland, we would gladly return.

The Chanticleer Inn is the ideal B and B in Ashland. It is close walking distance to the Shakespeare Festival and the main drag, the accomodations and breakfast are extraordinary, and Ellen and Howie are lovely and caring. Every detail is gracious and every request accomodated. We had delightful and scintillating breakfast conversation. I recommend it highly.
