I love this historic hotel with its informal Victorian design, just steps from the theater and everything you need. Bathrooms are shared and you need to be able to ascend some stairs (there are fewer in the back of the hotel than in the front.). But if neither of those are a deterrent, this is a sweet and comfy place to stay.

The Columbia Hotel , the oldest in Ashland was a very pleasant surprise. Like a boutique San Francisco hotel. Welcomed before and a good tollow up afterwards to see how things were. The room was just like visiting someones home, spacious and beautifully decorated even fresh flowers. We had a lovely bathroom altho a lot of rooms did not. There was a relaxing lobby under a large cupula with wonderful teas and coffee. Even the New York Times with other magazines and local information. The location was perfect on the main street with an easy walk to all the shops, cafes and restsurants and the Shakesperian Festival theatres.Staff were so helpful and the place was well kept up.
Nice to experience some old world charm with modern amenities, Would highly recommend this hotel while visiting Ashland, a delightful town in Southern Oregon.

Room Tip: Hotel is on second floor with entrance up steep staircase altho back entrance. choose room type, bathroom, A/c. prices vary

Cute little hotel that is central to all the theater action! There are a lot of stairs and our rooms had no AC or bathroom so we have to walk down the hall to shower or toilet. We arrived with the room smelling of fresh lilies due to the fresh flowers in our room. We were street side but the fans masked the street noise. The coffee in the morning is coffee house quality. Something I don't think I've had before in a hotel. There are no tv's but they have board games and supposedly Amazon movies on iPads. Who needs tv's when you are in the land of theater though?

We have stayed here many times through the years, and love its convenient location just a couple of blocks from the OSF. We avoid staying here during the peak hot periods, since there's no air conditioning, but I was just there when it was 90+ during the day in mid May and it cooled off nicely during the evening. Perhaps that's true later in the summer. Each room is supplied with fans and windows that open. The long set of stairs concerned me when I saw them from the main street level, but when you enter from the back of the property, there are only a few to negotiate. The shared bath has never been a particular problem for us, we rarely have to wait for a shower in the morning, but if we do, we simply enjoy the gracious couches in the lobby, with the coffee and newspapers, etc. and sometimes interesting conversations with other guests. The front desk people are always very gracious and helpful if you need anything.

Ashland, Oregon was a very pleasant surprise on my recent trip, and the Columbia Hotel was certainly part of this. Perfectly located on the city's main street, the hotel offered a very authentic experience in their courtyard suite. Of course, authentic does mean that rooms are older, but everything is very well kept. The front desk service was impeccable.
