This one is every bit as good as the reviews. Passing through on our way from Santa Cruz to Portland, we spent the night in one of the queen suites. The room was nicely finished, with a high wood-paneled ceiling and skylight. There was a very nice bath and shower, with a nicely chosen selection of toiletries (nothing like the cheap junk in most hotels). The heating system had a setting to have the fan run constantly on the low setting, so we were not awakened periodically through the night by it cycling on and off. The internet wi-fi system was quite easy to use, and provided contact with the front desk. The person sitting at that desk was friendly and welcoming when we checked in, and later when we returned to choose from one of six different pillows that The Palm offers its guests. The Palm has the form of an old multiple-cabin-style motel, but the resemblance ends there. The cabins come in various sizes and layouts for different size parties, and are all nicely finished. The grounds are nicely landscaped and take the form of a garden with a nice lawn with a picnic table and places to sit. There's a small outdoor pool, which doesn't get much use in February, when we visited.

Strongly recommended.

Room Tip: Study room descriptions online, and call to ask if you have questions. Our room was listed as having a "roomy tub" -- when we arrived we found both that roomy tub and a nice shower.

I was surprised how quiet this place was even though it was so close to town and the main road. Not your typical motel, attention to detail is very special. It is an older motel, but very nicely remodeled with an excellent quality. The rooms are very well kept and remodeled in a 50's period theme. My room (8) was perfect for a couple (but not huge) I did do yoga next to the bed and had enough room. The kitchenette was it's own room, very nice to have and well stocked. I loved waking up and opening the blinds on the windows to see the sleepy fog passing through the beautiful private garden behind all the units. I'm from California, the price was great in comparison to home. A bathtub would of made it a dream place to come and spend a few days alone...I would never leave the room!

Room Tip: They have a sister hotel more in downtown if you want to be closer to the theaters and restaurants called "The Columbia". Most of the rooms sit back from the street and look of the same quality.

We recently stayed at the motel to attend a show at the Ashland Cabaret, and we would definitely stay again. It's steps away from the Morning Glory Restaurant for breakfast. But more importantly, the motel is a step back in time with eclectic furnishings, lovely landscaping, and a nostalgic charm, along with comfortable beds.

I randomly came across The Palm when having to arrange a short stay in Ashland. The idea of cottages and the appealing pallet and design caught on website photos combined with low price drew me in. The reception I received from Kellie was exceptional - friendly, helpful and accommodating. The room was tasteful, very clean, had several extras that you wouldn't expect in a "cottage"-offering establishment. I didn't use their available amenities but everything about my stay was pleasant and comfortable (especially warm quilt at the bottom of the bed.) Not extraordinarily fancy, but there is great value in simplicity that has class.

I stayed at the Palm in January, and it was bitter cold out. the room (classic queen) was warm, functional, the hot water thankfully plentiful. no pretensions but clean surfaces, friendly staff, and very good coffee available in the office. great location for visiting Ashland.
