Description: Built in an historic building in old downtown Ashland. Great upstairs & balcony seating with a great view overlooking the creek & mountains. We just had a great dinner there Aug 2011.

While this has been an Ashland favorite, Alex's has gone into a decline from where it once was and that's too bad.
The food we experienced on a recent dinner was less than average in taste...
The "Chicken Piccata" was without ANY flavor of lemon whatsoever. Not a hint. Zero. Very, very bland and the chicken itself was way overcooked and hard. A real disappointment for what should have been (and has been in the past) a good dish.
An order of the "Kitchen Guy's Pasta" (I think that's the name) was also very blah. Very little of the promised "spicy" nature and definitely not a "creamy" sauce, both promised on the menu. The pasta was way overcooked, to softness and the three small shrimp (geez...barely qualifies as the menu's promised ingredient) were also terribly overcooked and, quite literally, hard and tough. That "creamy" sauce made the dish seem like leftover spaghetti warmed up for a second day. It was quite terrible.
It was a disappointing meal and, with so many other better options in Ashland, probably our last at a place we once frequented.
I could never recommend it to anyone else at this point.

Food was very good; however do not come here if you are hungry. Portions were very tiny. Chicken breast was so thin you could see through it and it must have come from a baby chickhen.

A good place for a quick meal before the theatre. They have an interesting menu and good service--we usually share a meal as a full meal is too much food and they are very good about that.

they have music there and a small dance floor. lots of good music goes through there. I had been going there since the 80s when my sisters boyfriend had worked there.

Very unique spot, very westerny decor (old wood floors and curtains type thing) but located upstairs so the it has great views of the Plaza and you can sit outside on the little balcony. Tiny tables but we just had some before dinner drinks and a appetizer before our dinner elsewhere! Good relaxing spot! Good service and out app was delicious as well! You must try the house potato chips! very good! we also shared the Mixed Grill off the Shareables Menu. Nifty place and cool history behind it as well.
